So yesterday his temp. was at 107 which is very high. Has anyone heard how he is today?

Ok Spaw, we have enough going on here with a wedding to plan ( 3 wks from set date to ceremony),and yesterday learned that my mother is most likely having mini-strokes. Our fingernails are chewed to the nubs. C'mon and get better! Sending prayers and warm wishes to Pat, Karen and the whole gang:)

I know you are still watching this thread. I am glad you have taken a break from the situation, and I know your own health and well being is invested in how this comes out. We all care about you, and wish we had a friend who could try to bring positive energy and focus to us in a struggle like the one Pat is facing. Listen...you rest. You have done what you can. Let the rest of us pray, focus energy, channel light, and do what we can for our old friend. Believe me, if I could take a share of his pain, I would, just as I know you would. But that's not how this works. Ultimately, Pat will win or lose this fight. I feel he will win.

He will be all right.

And everyone falls to weeping tears of relief because they know that against heavy odds he has done it again.

Thanks to all of you. I called Karen just now and woke her up. Good grief! She just laughed and said she'd had plenty of sleep and not to worry.

She is "guardedly optimistic." He turned around, today, and they plan to move him to the step down unit, tomorrow. He was the most coherent she's seen since this all started and he just realised, today, that he's been in hospital for 45 days.

I forgot to tell you all that Karen put a new doorknob on all by herself. He is very proud of her for that AND he made her leave early to go get her tire fixed. They are having more snow.

They've been alternating him on the vent and CPAP.

I told her I'd talk to her again in a couple of days.

Just had a great conversation with Sister Connie. She is a wonderful person...I can see why Karen and Pat love her and Wayne so much. IN the course of our conversation, I was telling her about how much my osteopath's soft tissue manipulation helps my back and we ought to see if there is one there who could work on Pat because it can really help with breathing and back pain. It works on the para-sympathetic something or others, muscles? Anyway, I just know I can always breath more easily after she works on me and my back doesn't hurt as much.

Then, I told Connie my doc also said I should have a hot rock massage, (for real, guys.:-) THAT got Connie and I to laughing at the thought of having a SPA DAY for SPAW. I told her I'd be sharing that vision with you all. She envisioned that one scene in Wizard of Oz when they are at the salon getting all fixed up. I have plenty of other visions, but I think I'll stick with that one!:-)

I'm in over-civilized southeast Florida and feeling rather far from home in every sense just at the minute. The Mudcat is a great place to hang out when I'm feeling that way!
