Can anyone help me locate the lyrics to "Ramblin' Round Your City" by Woody Guthrie. I believe the tune is the same or similar to "good Night Irene" and "Roll on Columbia".

I have the song on an album by the Greenbriar boys.

Ramblin roun your city, Ramblin roun your town. I never see a friend I know As I go ramblin round boys As I go ramblin round.

Is that it?

The verses I have are attributed to Woody Guthrie.

My sweetheart and my parents I left in my old home town. I'm out to do the best I can as I go ramblin' . . .

The peach trees they are loaded, the limbs are bending down. I pick 'em all day for a dollar, boys

Sometimes the fruit gets rotten, falls down on the ground. There's a hungry mouth for every peach

I wish that I could marry; I wish I could settle down. But I can't save a penny, boys

My mother prayed that I would be a man of some renown; But I am just a refuge

I just downloaded a Linda Ronstadt collection from iTunes( her four earlier solo albums compiled and for just 9.99) and she had a version of this with similar lyrics to those mentioned above - it was quite nicely done!

Ramblin' Round

by Woody Guthrie

Ramblin' around your city
Ramblin' around your town
I never see a friend I know
As I go ramblin' 'round boys
As I go ramblin' 'round

My mother hoped that I might be
A man of some renown
But I am just a refugee
As I go ramblin' 'round boys
As I go ramblin' 'round

The peach trees they are loaded
The branches bending down
I pick 'em all day for a dollar boys
As I go 'ramblin 'round
As I go 'ramblin' 'round

Sometimes the fruit gets rotten
And falls on to the ground
There's a hungry mouth for every peach
As I go ramblin' 'round boys
As I go ramblin' 'round

The tune is slightly different from "Good Night, Irene", but the same three eternal chords are used.

It does seem to me that it's only the different words to this song, causing it to scan a bit differently than IRENE, that make it "seem" to be a different tune. Actually, though, the tunes are pretty much the same.
