I don't know that it's the same "I ain't got nobody," but look in bluegrass and country lyric sites too. Use the song name.

Subject: Chords Add: I AIN'T GOT NOBODY (Woody Guthrie)
From: Suffet
Date: 17 Apr 06 - 11:02 AM

Greetings:

I haven't heard the Woody Guthre and Cisco Houston recording of I Ain't Got Nobody in many years, but this is what I remember. Try these chords. If not exact, then they are at least very close. Woody and Cisco likely threw in lots of 6ths and 7ths that I don't show.

C             C7          F          C
I ain't got nobody, ain't nobody got me,

F                      C      D7            G7
I'm just like a little apple, hanging on a tree,

C                  C7 F             C
Don't nobody want me, I can plainly see,

F             C         G7               C
I ain't got nobody, and ain't nobody got me.

Second verse:

I ain't got nobody, ain't nobody got me,
I'm just like a chunk of wood, floating on the sea.
Don't nobody want me, I can plainly see,
I ain't got nobody, and ain't nobody got me.

I can't recall if there were any other verses. Woody probably made up new verses each time he sang this song. Since nothing changes but the second line, this is a perfect zipper song, provided each new second line ends in a long E sound.

Good luck.

--- Steve

This was written by Roger Graham and the music was done by SPENCER Williams in 1916.and the words they wrote are altogether different from the ones posted

Greetings:

That's not at all surprising. Many of the first songs Woody Guthrie sang were the pop songs of his childhood. He learned many from his mother, Nora Belle Guthrie (née Tanner), who played piano and she sang to her children. Among these song were A Picture from Life's Other Side, Put My Little Shoes Away, and Step Stone.

Hi-
We're primarily a lyrics forum, but you're welcome to request chords for whatever you'd like - please request one song at a time, however - and post requests in threads about the particular song you wanted.
