Subject: Tune Req: Bound for the mountains and the sea From: GUEST,Paranoid Android Date: 24 Jun 05 - 06:42 AM I used the sing this Tom Paxton song back in the 60's, now I can't even remember the "air" of the tune. Can someone supply the basic notes of the verse (or a midi-file) to refresh my failing mind. Thank you. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bound for the mountains and the sea From: Zany Mouse Date: 24 Jun 05 - 07:20 AM Hi PA Great song - I know it well. Sadly I can't do the notation but I'll get Mick to do this later, unless someone else can leap in and help. I'll check later in the day. Rhiannon |
Subject: Tune Add: BOUND FOR THE MOUNTAINS AND THE SEA From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Date: 24 Jun 05 - 07:52 AM I haven't sung this for many years, but here's more or less what I sing. I'm open to corrections on this, but it may be enough to jog your memory anyway. (For anyone who's looking, the words are in the DT). Subject: RE: Tune Req: Bound for the mountains and the sea From: GUEST,ClaireBear Date: 24 Jun 05 - 02:30 PM I'm not good at this kind of notation, but the way I sing it at least (and I THINK I am using the original tune)... I believe last note in the second line "me" should be E, not G. In the third line, I think "bid" (the 2nd E) should be a C, and "see you cry" is G-F-E3 rather than F-G-E3. In the fourth line, I think the first "the (before "mountains" should be a C, and the second one (before "sea") should be a low B. Lovely song. Thanks for reminding me. Claire |
Subject: Tune Add: BOUND FOR THE MOUNTAINS AND THE SEA From: Mick Pearce (MCP) Date: 24 Jun 05 - 03:34 PM Thanks for that Claire. They sound OK to me, except your suggestion for the 3rd line: G-F-E3, is what I have already; did you mean something different? I've incorporated the other changes into the version below. Subject: DT Lyrics:: Bound for the Mountains and the Sea From: Joe Offer Date: 13 Feb 23 - 06:36 PM BOUND FOR THE MOUNTAINS AND THE SEA (DT Lyrics) (Tom Paxton) If you can't come along, Love, then you must stay behind You're bound to say farewell to me I must bid you goodbye, though I hate to see you cry But I'm bound for the mountains and the sea Fare thee well, for I'm bound for the mountains and the sea It's so hard to explain, why I'm leaving once again It's nothing that I haven't done before It ain't much, I guess, but the thing I love the best Is rambling this land from shore to shore In this land, rambling this land from shore to shore I have walked, I have thumbed, I've rode buses, I've rode trains I've ridden a time or two in a silver plane When I think of where I've been, I just have to go again Just to see if everything is still the same In this land, just to see if everything is still the same So it's fare thee well, my dear, and I must be on my way There's many a thing I want to do and see I'm a mighty restless man in a mighty restless land And I'm bound for the mountains and the sea I'm bound for the mountains and the sea @travel Copyright Tom Paxton recorded by Paxton filename[ MOUNTSEA SOF https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2b6BvD8NMtY (not exactly the same as the DT lyrics) Live performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a3D5DM834F4 |
Subject: RE: Chords:Bound for the Mountains and the Sea(Paxton) From: GerryM Date: 14 Feb 23 - 06:08 AM "not exactly the same as the DT lyrics" Right. I made a point of listening to the original recording, and here's what I have. Mostly unimportant differences, but I think in verse 3, line 1, the difference between "thumbed" and "bummed" is worth noting. If you can't come along, love, you must stay behind You're bound to say farewell to me I must bid you goodbye, though I hate to see you cry But I'm bound for the mountains and the sea Fare thee well, bound for the mountains and the sea It's so hard to explain, why I'm leaving once again It ain't nothing that I haven't done before It ain't nothing much, I guess, but the thing I love the best Is rambling this land from shore to shore In this land, rambling this land from shore to shore I have walked, I have bummed, I've rode buses, I've rode trains I've ridden a time or two in a silver plane When I think of where I've been, I just have to go again Just to see if everything is still the same In this land, see if everything is still the same So fare well, my dear, and I must be on my way There's many a thing that I must do and see I'm a mighty restless man in a mighty restless land And I'm bound for the mountains and the sea Fare thee well, bound for the mountains and the sea |
