Would a barby be organised by the pub or would it be a bring and burn thing? I think it would be good if we could treat the landlord and landlady to something, to say thank you for everything they will be doing for us. LTS |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Morticia Date: 02 Apr 04 - 05:33 AM You know, I've wondered how a man of the cloth can do such evil things to my head and insides......I think that Abbott is actually working for the devil. |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Mrs.Duck Date: 11 Apr 04 - 03:20 PM Just to keep everything in mind. Liz I have already given thought to something for the landpersons but if anyone has good ideas PM me as they might read this and spoil the suprise. As always the weekend will largely run itself but some folk have made suggestions that didn't end in off which could be included as part of the festivities. 1. Liz has expressed interest in arranging a panel type game in the vein of "Whose brain is minding the buzzcocks anyway?" 2. The Webfooted Ramblers invite you to an hour or two of old time/american music song etc. at a time to be thought up on the day. 3. There will be an ongoing quiz sheet available (want to help me with this one next week Selby?) 4. Sunday am raise the rafters with a few full throttled songs not necessarily religious but they do have some belters - bring words if possible but nothing too taxing and don't worry if we get it wrong we'll have been up late. Any other ideas please let me know and if you have questions I might even be able to answer some of them. Ta |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Phot Date: 12 Apr 04 - 04:50 AM Am I too late to say yes please? One small tent and a small car. Wassail! Chris |

Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: YorkshireYankee Date: 12 Apr 04 - 04:44 PM Hello Mr & Mrs D, Good to meet you at the Barnsley Folk Festival this weekend. BTW, very much enjoyed your answer to the fellow who asked "WHAT have you done with your children?" (For those not lucky enough to have been there, both Ducks replied -- without missing a beat -- "Boiled 'em!"). I trust your littl'uns have managed (despite boiling) to completely devour their Easter choccies already... or do they still have some left? Thanks for letting me know about this -- I'm definitely going to try to get there, but the fact that it's all camping may make it a little difficult for me. For health reasons, I need access to an electrical outlet when I sleep, so a tent is not practical in my case -- unless this field has electrical hookups available (I get the impression it doesn't). Is there anything along the lines of a B&B fairly near-by? Also -- I'll be coming from Sheffield, so if there's anyone else planning to come from thereabouts, I'm happy to have a passenger or two (or to be a passenger & help with petrol costs). Cheers, YY |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: YorkshireYankee Date: 12 Apr 04 - 05:44 PM Have been doing some searching on the net; found a Guest House ~5 miles from the Gathering. If anyone knows of any better options, please let me know. Also, if anyone is interested in sharing a room, please contact me -- it would really help keep the price down! YY |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Geoff the Duck Date: 12 Apr 04 - 08:49 PM I'd share a room, but Mrs.Duck might see it otherwise... :@} Quack! GtD. Actually - we'll check if there is any chance of electricity. The session is at the Black Dog tomorrow, so we should be across then. Geoff. |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Mrs.Duck Date: 13 Apr 04 - 11:22 AM Might be boiling a larger duck next time !!!!!!!!! |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: YorkshireYankee Date: 13 Apr 04 - 12:12 PM How 'bout if I share a room with BOTH Ducks? Surely Mrs Duck couldn't object to *that*... |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: selby Date: 13 Apr 04 - 12:58 PM Yorkshire Yankee you are right there are no guest houses near if you like a drink the best advice i can give is buy/borrow a tent. Oh go on Jane I have a few questions in me ead. Keith |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: YorkshireYankee Date: 13 Apr 04 - 05:47 PM Hi Selby, Appreciate the advice... but the problem is not that I need access to alcohol -- but rather electricity (while I sleep); no tents I know of (thus far) offer this feature! (I would be happy to find I am wrong about this, so if anybody can correct me on that, please do!) Cheers, YY (solar powered by day, electrically powered by night... ;-) ) |
Subject: RE: Yorkshire Gathering 2004 From: Raedwulf Date: 19 Apr 04 - 12:05 AM Add another tent, provided I can get leave sorted (shouldn't be a problem)... |
