I don't like people using the cat to advertise, but I will say, that I watched my mother die from lung cancer, and

         IT HURTS LIKE HELL!

Mom was a stoic all her life. Arthritis, asthma, hip replacements, she didn't complain of the pain. But the surgery to remove the malignancy was exquisitely painful for her, and so were her last days.
Quit smoking. It increases your chances of being shot by a jealous wife/husband when you're 95 years old.

I am sick to death of so-called "smokers rights". I could give a shit what you put in your body, but you have no right to put it in mine. And you have no right to tell me to "not go out if you don't like the smoke". You have it backwards. You are the one proactively polluting my space. Do what you want in your home or on your property, just keep it away from the rest of us.

I believe that States and Cities have the right to pass these laws. In fairness, if I were the one in charge, I would ban smoking in all public places, including near any building where the public passes in and out. Instead of outlawing smoking in all establishments, I would simply force obvious signage that states whether an establishment was smoking or not. I would not allow smoking/non smoking sections. An establishment is either smoking or not. This would allow those of us who object to smelling this poison to vote with our pocketbooks. Doing this would allow a property owner to make a choice as to who s/he wishes to cater to.

I had a much-loved and intelligent friend who told me she didn't believe all the rubbish about smoking harming your health. Intelligent, yes, but she, like anyone, has the ability to dismiss what we don't want to hear, regardless of the facts. After several bouts of verigo and extreme breathlessness, she was told she had an enlarged heart due to years of chain smoking. The doctor told her to give up smoking or die. She carried on smoking, at a reduced level. Two years later she was dead.

So regardless of poor, blatant advertising and pigeon English, unfortunately there is still work to be done.

Bobert, I think you must have either misremembered this, are joking, or were taken in by a scam. Pot smokers live longer than non-potheads?! Pot is *more* carsongenic than tobacco. Long term use (shorter term in some, depends on body mass etc.) also leads to associated mental health problems, such as paranoia.

The study Bobert recollects exists. One report about it is for instance here.

But I wouldn't take it very serious. For instance, pipe smokers and cigar smokers in Germany live longer than non-smokers. Does that come from smoking pipes and cigars being healthy? No, it comes from pipe smokers and cigar smokers being members of a population (white collar, higher education, higher income) that lives longer (even if smoking) than workers and (other) poor people.
