From: dianavan

I've never minded a certain amount of body hair but shoulder, nose
and ear hair put me off a little. I don't mind men who are bald. I actually kinda like the shiny, shaved-head. Its better than the little fringe around the ears.

Tufted eyebrows are also strange. I don't mind if a guy shaves his legs for cycling but other than that... well???

So do you also have preferences and dislikes?

I prefer men not to shave anything! For one thing, it leaves uncomfortable bristles and shaving anything aexcept their chins always seems a little effeminate to me. I have to admit to a preference for long hair (on the head, I hasten to add!)...a carry over from my 60s youth I guess. I don't like it on bald men though...none on top but long hair at the back is a turn off. I like a bit of chest hair...definitely not a hairless chest, but am not too keen on hairy backs.

Love Lynne

Strange how my thread on hairy women did not really get sensibly off the ground and I look at your thread and see some much more mature opinion in only two posts. Wonder why?
Best wishes, Mike.

I don't mind a beard, long hair, hairy arms, legs and even the back (cuz that is just SO soft and warm to snuggle up to), but the ear and nose hair are a turn off to me....as are moustaches that are kept somewhat trimmed....not obsessively...but so as the owner isn't chewing on it...that's just gross. I also prefer the group of men with 2 eyebrows.

If I'm honest I prefer men with as little hair as possible except on their head where I like lots. Apologies Geoff!

Problem solved for women who prefer men without tufts of hair in their ears or noses. The Japanese have a solution, dual clippers! One for each hand!

The Japanese obviously think North Americans need trimming. A client presented my husband, as a gift, not once, but on two occasions (short memory span) electronic, battery operated nose hair clippers that you shove up your offending orfice. The client also presented a female friend a shaver for her legs. LOL

The fellow must have been pretty perceptive, as you normally cannot even see my husband's ears due to his infrequent haircut schedule.

While I have never spent any great length of time staring up his nose to determine if there are any offensive whisps, the last few times I've performed barbering services, I've reemed his ears with the things for good measure.

Clever people these Japanese. A gadget for everything.

An ex of mine was a keen cyclist, as in '50 miles just for the hell of it' kind of keen and he used to shave his legs.

Interesting trying to explain stubble rash on my legs!

William Shatner is a spectacular example of the relatively hairless man (aside from his scalp hair). Sean Connery is a spectacular example of the hairy man. Take your pick.

LH-doesn't Shat have more scalp tape than scalp hair?

It doesn't matter to me. I have been with some rather hairy fellers.
Yet maybe there's something to shaving the hair--anybody hear Robin Williams hear on late night tv awhile back about he's so hairy that:
He got to do a special visit to some Gorrillas at a zoo. He got to go right in with them, & one female hit on him. Not with her fist, either!

Who likes hairless men? Not I! Or, more accurately, I should say that I dislike the painfully clean-shaven, waxed-body look; I don't dislike the men themselves! But the furrier they look, the better. Chest, back, legs, parts unknown, 's all good. And two eyebrows are not necessarily better than one! As long as the facial hairs (including nose hairs) are kept neatly trimmed and not left to wander aimlessly about, I'm happy. Bald or balding pates don't bother me as long as the wispies on top are trimmed or shaved -- no comb-overs, please!

Hmm, interesting. No women seem to like hairless ones so far! I wonder how old you women are? I say this cos I used to like hairless men when I was quite young (late teens early 20s). But prefer hairier (well, proper men!) now I'm older. I think it's to do with an immature sexuality that I liked them hair free before...I know that sounds Freudian! Or maybe cos when I was that young it was the time of the frilly, coiffed New Romantics!

Never liked long head hair though - very few men suit it in my opinion.

If you're going to have a whole thread about male hair, why not some other part of the anatomy? My point is: viewing someone as a body part is undignified. It is now, it seems, largely unacceptable for men to eye up women in polite company (thank God), but that old male habit has now been transferred to women and that's apparently OK. Surely a more important question than hair is personality and intelligence - and if a man has that, who cares whether he's bald as an egg or hairy as a chimp? Should one make him feel unworthy for being either?

Not about this thread. This is an answer thead, but Bothered has an interesting point on human behavior. Reversing demeaning comments made by women about men is a good way of deciding what's fair/nice/unfunny/playful/OK. We mostly agree on what's not fair/nice/unfunny/playful/OK when whe're talking about comments made about women. Time for balance.
I repeat that these comments are not about this thread or about comments used within a group who understand the rules of friendly discussion. Cheers, Joy

Like 'em hairy do ya? Well, well, well...have I got the answer for you, ladies! It's time to shake off those lingering specist prejudices and start thinkin' about hookin' up with a chimp. Yessiree. This chimp. You can find my number in the Chicago phone directory under "Private Investigators". I ain't the marryin' kind, but I make a great date for a night on the town with slow dancing, roses, moonlight, the whole labonza. Guaranteed. No rubber bananas.

And get this: I make Sean Connery look almost bald.

Is it? I suppose it depends what you mean by "eye up", but outside the sort of circles where burkhas are de rigeur, I don't think there aren't any rules that men are supposed to avoid looking at other people just because they are women. Ot the other way ropund.

I don't like or dislike people based on their hair or lack thereof. But it appears that many people do. It's a strange thing to like someone over--their hair that is. I don't know what that says about the people with or without hair, but I know what it says about people who decide based on that.

I've been trying to figure this one out for awhile. At my old job, when I got really bored, I'd bum Cosmo or one of those other
"pink" magazines (my term) off of one of the other girls in the break room, and ponder the mysteries of bikini-waxed men. I just don't get it.

I mean, if a guy is naturally not that hairy, fine, but these guys didn't even have peach fuzz left (and they did not appear to be swimmers--the swimmers at school used to shave everything). It was sort of creepy. Who wants to see a grown man with less body hair than your 10-year-old brother? Eew.

I don't care one way or the other about hair on the head, as long as it's clean (this goes for humanity in general, not just men).

I suppose I shouldn't really complain, though, since I shave. It makes life more bearable during our 8-month summers (hairy legs + hot weather + the stockings or long pants at work = misery).

Doesn't the question refer to physical attraction, not using the quantity and distribution of body hair as a determiner for forming friendships?

I have 100% alopaecia and probably look like an alien to some folks

[think David Bowie in "The Man Who Fell To Earth"]

But [being objective],
because I have fine good looking facial bone structure
and a gym honed muscular physique;
I am well aware how many women take a 2nd look at me as they pass by..
and I'm sure more than a few have a confused sense of guilty self repressed attraction
for what they see is clearly abnormal, and so different to the everyday men in their domestic lives.

You'd be surprised at the types of women who strategically [and clumsily]
position themselves
to take a good look at me from different angles and points of view..

I dare say if I sought employment as a male escort,
I'd find plentiful work with women of all ages and backgrounds
who secretly desire to try something different.

I could cope with being the object of womens slightly depraved repressed fantasies..

But, my wife,

who was first attracted by my long flowing hippy hair,
and who has now got used to and preferes my clean smooth overall natural baldness,

my wife would kill..

I am her baldy love god..
and no other woman will ever be tolerated to get near enough to me to find out why..

I am really rather hairy all over. Not dark hairy but gentle fair-hairy, although my beard is harsher-hairy.
However, funny this, I only like naughty with hairless men who have had back, crack, sac shaved.
If they're too hairy it puts me right off.
