I know the end of it is Needles and Pins, needles and pins, when a man marries his trouble begins, but what is the beginning? Somethingda-ing, somethingda-ing, when a man's single he lives like a king. Even Google can't find it! Help!

Maybe we need to add a verse:

When a man marries his life becomes better.

[Okay, so maybe the word should be 'letters' but then it wouldn't rhyme with 'better' and that's the point]

How fitting! The first Google ad below this post is
"Modern Mother Goose". The second is "Child care". But, it seems to me that that original rhyme was for adults and not children...And so is my modern version...Needless to say, if the married man's life is better, so is the married woman.

So this rhyme is about Adult care and not child care.

Hmmm. I find this in the Real Mother Goose, but not in the Annotated Mother Goose or in any of the Opie books. It's the first time the Opies' Oxford Dictionary of Nursery Rhymes has failed me. This is all you'll find in the Real Mother Goose:

Needles and pins, needles and pins,
When a man marries his trouble begins.

My wife doesn't like this one.
