Good news for all! Although I'm sure there were several hijack plots along the route, the armored convoy MADE IT THROUGH! There are cases and cases and cases of genuine Woody's locked in the SFFDGear.com vault tonight, which shares premises with an alarm company, so I know it's safe. Shipments begin tomorrow!

I was able to get some shipped from www.asianfoodcompany.com and also www.foodlocker.com/brands-w-woody-s.html claimed they would have some to ship before Dec. 12.

The first load is scheduled to arrive TOMORROW (Monday)!!! The timing and route of the convoy are closely held secrets, in order to avoid hijackings. Postal Police will be on hand as I ship out my first orders, for the same reason. (Well, they're ALWAYS on hand where I ship, and part of their job IS to prevent hijackings)...

It's my pleasure Buddy. It's kind of cool to feel like "Captain America" to many folks. I still have to take out the trash (Recycling, in San Francisco) and fold the laundry! When one runs a clothing store on the Internet, the excuse of "I can't fold clothes" just doesn't fly!

Potential Clothing store runners, be warned! This will be your fate! :)

I gave them your SSFD web address Bill !!
Question....?
Instead of a t-shirt, I'll trade a Natick MA TS for an armodillo skin HEE HEE

Yippeee!!!

I've placed my first order using San Francisco Bill's site, and everything went beautifully. The site is very easy to use, and acknowledgment was prompt and pleasant.

I encourage everyone to go ahead and order. Bill's right; his shipping costs are way reasonable when you're ordering a few bottles.

Oh, my husband will be SO happy with what he gets in his stocking this year!!!

Hello Guest!

If you look up a few posts, you'll see that www.SFFDGear.com has the Woody's line as well! Asian Foods may be good, but they don't have a monopoly!

Man! That was close!

As you might imagine, today was a very busy day! First day as a Woody's retailer, I arranged my first shipment to arrive on Monday, and ALMOST missed out on my bit of the first production run of the Sweet 'n Sour flavor. It was good luck - and the fact that the Woody's family seems to have taken a liking to me - that I was able to snag the very last cases of Sweet 'n Sour on the North American Continent!

I can tell you - that was one big score for us! Sorry Europe. You'll just have to wait! :)

You do know where to look, right? New England Woody's Fan had it right - even as I was building the page! (It's no longer called new page 1).

Fortunately, PayPal ranks the orders: First in, First out.

Glad I'm pleasing the folks in this thread! It's a good thing that I have the resources to receive, process and ship the orders out. Maybe that's why I've been running my little web shop! I know what to do, and how to do it!

Cheers!

Hmmm... maybe I'll go with BBQ for Xmas dinner...

Cheers,

O.K., O.K., now who is going to start selling WOODY'S tee-shirts and caps on-line??? LOL We have a new CULT starting.

BTW, are their any "under age 40" using WOODY'S???

Sorcha,

I guess this is a case of "it never hurts to ask". Talking to Woody's owner was like talking to an old friend - he really is that down to earth. The fact that the conversation took place while I was in my vehicle, pulled over on Junipero Serra, well, makes it all the more fun.

The answer to YOUR question is found at my little web store - actions speak louder than words - and it is: Reasonable. I have to sign some business documents before he can tell me what the prices are, and that's standard practice. If you look at my store, you'll see that while it's not a discount store, I NEVER gouge. I'm kind of old fashioned in that way.

If I had the numbers, they'd be on a BUY IT NOW button!

I'm just pleased that he liked my little store enough to say, 'OK, you're in'. That makes me one of three American Internet retailers to get the nod, and one of only FOUR on the planet! It's quite an honor! My little store, who would have thought of it?

I'm just glad to be able to get it for you and the other Woody's fans! We have worked very hard!

And, as Darryll knows, I DO know how to ship bottles of sauces!

Well, here's some exiting news! I had a nice long chat with Richard, the new owner of Woody's Foods this evening! He is a good guy who started out like the rest of us: Looking for his lost Woody's Sauce! He took our passion (we tried to make the knock-offs) and did us one better - he bought the company! THAT'S a fan!

He is well aware of this thread. I didn't ask (that would have been rude) if any of us came remotely close, but he did say that the process is complex. He also stressed that new Woody's is PRECICELY the same as old Woody's. The new bottles might look a little redder than our stashes, because our stashes are two or more years old.

I know the question you are waiting for: What did he say when I asked if I could sell his sauces on SFFDGear.com? I guess he thought my site is cool, because he said *YES*!!!!

I got a reply this evening! I may not get the chance to offer it, but will call in the morning! Who knows what may happen! Of course, I'm going to respect a request to keep a phone number confidential, like I would your address. Or you would mine.

My conclusion: The product is ready, but the distribution is not. It may show up for Internet delivery before it shows up on store shelves.

In this age, where the "Cook-In" sauce could be discussed, dismantled, emulated and demanded, it just could no longer just be discontinued and forgotton, like in the old days. And that is the opportunity that the new ownership bought into. Ten years ago, the brand would have been worthless and forgotton, once discontinued. Things are new now. My web site is called www.SFFDGear.com if you want to see what the folks at Woody's saw.

Here's what they said:

Hi Bill,

Good news the first production run of Woody's is now complete!   I am working in getting Woody's back into the local stores including; Safeway, Bel Air, Raily's etc. in California.

We don't necessrily sell direct to consumers but we do have online retailers that do at: www.woodyscookin.com

I took a look at your website and I would like to discuss with you further about the oppurtunity in retailing Woody's on your website.

When you get a moment call me at (xxx) xxx-xxxx (I request that you please do not publish this number). We have a toll free number now for consumers: 1-888-747-9229.

I look forward to talking with you soon.

Have a great day!

Best Regards,

(The signature was cut off).

I just emailed the new owner. I offered my web store to be an outlet for the new Woody's. If he says *Yes*, and sells me some, he will have an outlet! You will have a source! How does it tie into San Francisco Firefighting? Because San Francisco Firefighters mostly LOVE IT!

I'll probably lose money on the stuff, because I charge so little for shipping, but maybe someone will order a shirt or two, so maybe it all work out. Unless he just sluffs me off as "little people", in which case I'm back to 'square one'.

I never even thought of it until Darrell bought some of my sauces!   www.SFFDGear.com I hope it's OK to mention it here.

Bill

Are the online retailers actually shipping product yet? If the new owner of Woody's wants to snap up sales, all they have to do is get a Paypal account, and a few "Add to Cart" buttons to their site. As Darrell knows, even I can do that! If I can do it, it must be simple! ;)

I just used the last of my Faux Woody's Cook #2 tonight. If I don't see Woody's back soon, I may have to resort to Recipe #3! They loved #2 at the Firehouse!

Woody's is coming back. I talked to the owner of Woody's Food Limited today. He said the grocery stores are giving him some problems negotiating prices, slotting, and everything that goes along with getting a product on the shelf (i.e. placement etc). The Brokerage comany who is handling the product to get it back into stores is Enterprise Sales and Marketing. I have personally worked in a grocery store as a manager and with a brokerage company as well. Let me tell you it is not an easy thing working with grocery stores to get product in a store. I suggested to the Woody owner that we as consumers know the name of the Brokerage company and request the product not only at store level but also at corporate level as well giving them the info of the Brokerage company and Woody's website. If enough of us stick together, we can get this ball rolling alot faster and also help Woody's Company return to the shelves so we can enjoy it faster.

I have used Woody's for a base when making a sauce for smoked brisket for years. I found out from the people at HEB stores in Corpus Christi that they had gone out of business. I guess I was buying what was left of their stock up till about 3mo. ago I am hoping some one will start to make it again. Does anyone have the recipe for the sauce that was used in Ireland's Pit Bar-B-Que(discontinued), that was sold in a can back in the 50's and 60's?

I'm not giving up, and I would venture that from what I know of the other intrepid Woody's warriors, none of them is tossing in the towel either. Speaking for myself, I am taking a much-needed breather while I use up what I've already made and wait for the commercial product to materialize (or not).

Besides, I've been away on vacation, and I have a lot less spare time during church choir/school season than I do in the summer...along with less motivation to barbecue.

Cheers,
Claire
