Subject: RE: Aust's TED EGAN hits the heights! From: GUEST,ray padgett Date: 20 Nov 03 - 04:42 AM Well blow me down with a feather, I was in the company of Ted Egan and Doc Rowe back in August at the Cornwall folk festival at Wadebridge, an amazing character, who accompanied his singing by playing a cardboard box!! He was the one who introduced Rolf Harris to the Two Little boys song and Rolf thinks very highly indeed of. Ted was over tracing his British ancestors and was to launch his book fromn Australia House, I eventually got Ted's book which is a terrific read and for someone who knows nothing about Australia proved truely enlightening |

Subject: RE: Aust's TED EGAN hits the heights! From: Bugsy Date: 19 Nov 03 - 08:58 AM I think it's great that Ted has finally been given the recognition he deserves. No one who has had dealings with Ted could begrudge him this honour. I was at his penultimate concert in Perth a couple of weeks ago where he was in fine form and looking better than ever and the anouncement of his new appointment was met with overwhelming approval. (It's also good to know there's now an extra place to crash when passing through Darwin.) "ONYA TED!!!!" Ted Get's Recognition CHeers Bugsy Bugsy |

Subject: RE: Aust's TED EGAN hits the heights! From: Bob Bolton Date: 03 Oct 03 - 08:05 AM G'day Nutty, I guess anything like a good home truth will make you unpopular with someone ... The song won first prize in the Bush Music Club's "Original Words and Tune" section of our Song Competition (about 1980 ...?) ... and I suspect I was the first to publish it (in BMC magazine Mulga Wire. I can imagine the truth of the song was less popular in some other quarters! Congratulation Ted (again!). Bob Bolton |

Subject: RE: Aust's TED EGAN hits the heights! From: nutty Date: 03 Oct 03 - 05:50 AM Wasn't it Ted Egan who made himself somewhat unpopular by writing/recording "Drover's Boy". I thought it was an amazing song. |
