Subject: RE: BS: JenEllen runs away from home From: Benjamin Date: 09 May 04 - 01:59 AM I'm glad to see you've made it back and your doing okay Jenny. Welcome back. Sometime, I might end up running away for a little while myself. It's been a while since I've seen the Okanogan. |

Subject: RE: BS: JenEllen runs away from home From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 08 May 04 - 07:56 PM Dearest Mary, having seen you and been blessed with your warm hugs, I read your tale of woe filled with wonder- here on the west coast of NH, I thought, we make our johnnies more than big enough for the likes of thou ("huge"? I don't think so!). I'm glad to hear of the mistake, humiliating though it must have been for you! Allison |

Subject: RE: BS: JenEllen runs away from home From: SINSULL Date: 08 May 04 - 07:34 PM Re: "johnnies". As some of you know, I am rather well endowed. Huge actually. So...this last trip for another mammogram, I followed the required routine: stripped to the waist and put on the gown given to me with the opening to the front. The problem was that the opening was all across the front. No amount of pulling and tying could disguise the fact that it was 10" shorter than necessary in circumference. I decided to clutch my purse to my chest constricting the appendages as far as possible so that I could maintain a modicum of modesty. The other ladies in the waiting area, all amply covered by their gowns, pretended not to notice. And there i sat refusing to make eye contact with anyone and swearing that I would lose weight before the next mammogram. Finally my name was called and the technician led me into the examining room. She turned to ask me a question and laughed out loud. I was mortified. Turns out my gown had been mislaid. It was from the Children's Wing. Wrong pattern. I waited for a new gown to appear dreading the possibility that it too might not fit. Do these things only happen to me? |

She's more 'jelly beans and a pint of the black stuff, please.' --dontcha think? Allison, she has been cheery enough, of what I've seen (when the johnny flaps, I am instructed to NOT see), but there was a time after the first surgery when her next-door neighbor in the hospital was a confused man who yelled "WHAT TIME IS IT???" every five minutes or so. Our girl had murder in her eyes. The Hansell story was good, you guys. I've read the later stuff, and you can see your evolution. I have been tipped off about a Jukejoint story, and I'll read that one tonight. Thanks again, John |

Subject: RE: BS: JenEllen runs away from home From: JenEllen Date: 05 May 04 - 03:49 PM Thanks, all. And you're right, Mary, thankfully no more surgery. You of all folks know how lymph nodes are, never know you'll miss them until someone takes a knife to your armpit! *bg* There was good news after all. My ECG today was bee-yoo-tee-ful. Apparently I have the heart of a healthy 30yr old woman, so we're gonna stick with that! I also lobbied to have the "cozy" taken OFF of my drugs, and finally won (some wiseass crocheted a bunch of IV bag slipcovers with flowers on them---like you won't know what's in them as you sit there---to eliminate the subconscious fear of chemo drugs. I asked what I was supposed to do about my growing fear of gardening, and they finally let me off! LOL) |

Subject: RE: BS: JenEllen runs away from home From: JenEllen Date: 05 May 04 - 11:36 AM Wow. Thanks, all. I mean it. I got the thread dumped in my lap this weekend and truly enjoyed it. I'm bushed. It was a long weekend, got home Sunday night and I was just about sick of people. I sent John packing back to Portland (thanks for the Hansell thread, BTW, just give the guy more ammo, whydontcha?), and got some rest. My Monday doc's visit wasn't as great as I'd hoped--my spread seems to have been arrested (lovely image, ain't it?) and I get to continue on with my buddies at "herceptin happy-hour" for a while longer, but that's the most concrete they'll give me this week. Honestly, I was so happy to not have to go straight from CT to OR, that I would have taken just about anything as good news. Does Bert's credit card cover chemo-cocktails? There could be a whole new product line for the Tavern there... Much love, ~JE |

Subject: RE: BS: JenEllen runs away from home From: Amos Date: 30 Apr 04 - 05:39 PM John: In case you come back for an answer, the kestrel was a hawk which Jen wrote into a collective fiction thread we had here. But she had her main character set it (the pet kestrel) alight (meaning, "put it down somewhere") which everyone else jumped on for setting the poor bird aflame. She's never lived it down! A |

Everyone is lounging in the sun, Lake Roosevelt is too cold to swim in, and Jen's teaching the girls a new cheer for when their Daddy runs in Bloomsday tomorrow. Joe and I fly in tonight and will take this with me. Thanks. Bill, she is nuts. We just don't use the 'n' word because if we do, we get to hear the 'Harlan Pepper' impersonation for the millionth time. One must choose his battles wisely. The kestrel is one I have not heard. Subject: RE: BS: JenEllen runs away from home From: catspaw49 Date: 29 Apr 04 - 10:37 PM I am forced to apologize for Brother Dave there as he has been tied up with his duties as a partner in Lane,Fielding,Patterson, and Swan, Layabouts-At-Large and For Hire. We are busier than ever before doing nothing as Bush has things so screwed up that there are more folks than ever wanting and needing to do nothing for awhile. We are happy to provide that service for them so they can continue with the daily grind of making a living. Like we say, "When doing sweet damn all is simply too damn much, call LFPS. For you, we do nothing. After all, it's the very least we can do!" Since Rick's death we here at LFPS have been swamped with business as we now have Rick taking on the long term cases and he's virtually unlimited in the number he can handle. This has put Mick, Dave, and myself in the position of having to take on all of those short term jobs that we could never get to before and I tell you, doing nothing has never been better and our clients could not be happier. I also should say here that although we all get excellent comments from our clients, Rick is getting the most favorable ones by far. He has never done nothing quite so well before and indeed has set the bar at a new level. John, thanks.....and take good care of JE. Also be careful around her. One time some of us were on a riverboat and she set a Kestrel on fire. I'd just keep her away from birds in general, ya' know? Spaw--Founding Partner Lane, Fielding, Patterson, and Swan |

Subject: RE: BS: JenEllen runs away from home From: GUEST,Jen-Sitter John Date: 29 Apr 04 - 02:39 PM Under orders, I was to tell you that Jen is well and has been packed into a van full of rowdies and dogs and headed for the border. Yesterday was okay. We got everywhere we were supposed to be on time. The CT was a little unnerving, and seemed to take forever because she was shaking. She's not had good experiences with them before. They kept piling blankets on, but I think she was scared more than cold. She finally held still long enough for pictures, and I think she was relieved to not have to go from there to a hospital! The PET scan was interesting. No oral contrast media, it was an injected toxic glucose. Jen drove the guy crazy wanting to know the exact drug mechanisms to the last base pair. Then off to the doctors for a pre-chemo checkup and then to the clinic for treatments. A really long day. I tried to make her eat something last night, but she was asleep the second that fat white cat hit her lap. I'm heading up after work on Friday, and will print this collection out and take it along, if no one minds. I think she'd enjoy it. John |

Instead of writing each person individually, I thought I'd save myself a few minutes and hog a little thread space to tag everyone at once. As many of you know, tomorrow is the BigDay for the imaging tests. Unfortunately, it's not at my doctor's office, and barring emergency needs, they anticipate it being a few days before the results will reach him. If I am waiting around at home, staring at the phone, I'll go mad. So, in the defense of scant sanity, I'm running away from home. No worries, y'all. I'm taking a few good friends, one really good dog, some perky yodelling leprechaun music, an armload of KateShugak novels, a Micca book, a Fezzy lil' lucky-duck, etc., and heading for the Okanogan as soon as time and health permit after testing. So, if no one picks up the phone or returns messages for a few days, DON'T WORRY. You are all in my thoughts, I can't tell you how grateful I've been for the love and support, and I'll let you know the (good) news as soon as I can. Muchos smoochos. ~JenEllen |
