do you know him? :-) If he's on your trip, he'll be an elderly gentleman, wiry, about 5'6 or 5'7". He's prone to patterned jumpers and check shirts

He'll sing at the drop of a hat. So keep a tight grip on yer bunnet.

Oh - and don't try to accompany him on an instrument when he sings. He feckin hates that. He's been known to machine gun people who started to strum along with him.

For the same theme in a book try Jeff Torrington's "Swing Hammer Swing!". It's not quite like any other book I know (except maybe "Tristram Shandy" in its calculated avoidance of plot).
