Noo ah'm a working gent, ah live in a tenement
In the heart of one o' Glasgows biggest slums.
But they're going tae improve, and so we've been telt tae move
By those mansion-dwelling corporation bums

(chorus)

Oh, they're pullin' doon the buildin' next tae oors.
An' they're sending us tae green belts trees and flooers.
But we do not want tae go, an' we dailly tell them so
While they're pullin' doon the building next tae oors.

I believe you can find an mp3 of this song, performed by Ed Miller, if you go to mp3.com. Searching for "Ed Miller" at mp3.com should bring you to it.

THEY'RE PULLIN' DOON THE BUILDIN' NEXT TAE OORS
(Adam McNaughtan)

Noo ah'm a workin' gent, ah live in a tenement,
In the heart of one o Glasgow's biggest slums
But they're goin' tae improve, and so we've been telt tae move,
By those mansion-dwellin' corporation bums,

Chorus
Oh! they're pullin' doon the buildin' next tae oors,
An they're sendin us tae green belts trees an' flooers
But we do not want tae go, an' we daily tell them so,
While they're pullin' doon the buildin' next tae oors,

Noo oor faimilie's the lot, who've been stayin' in this spot,
For nearly sixty years withoot a break,
When they ordered us tae go, we just telt them point blank no,
Ye can go an' jump in Scotland's only lake. CHORUS

Noo many folks have laughed an' they've said that we were daft,
No tae go where everything was new an neat,
But we're happy where we are, think we're better aff by far,
Wi' a pub on every corner o' the street. CHORUS

Well they ordered us tae quit, at last we had tae flit
It took four removal vans tae shift the load,
Aye, we moved just yesterday but it's no sae far away
It's the buildin' facin' oors across the road,

Final Chorus
Noo they're pullin' doon the buildin' facin' oors,
An sendin us tae green belts, trees, an' flooers
But we do not want tae go, an' we daily tell them so,
While they're pullin' doon the buildin' facin oors,

Roy Ihavenoidea-Ofhislastname ... from Milngavie

do you know him? :-) If he's on your trip, he'll be an elderly gentleman, wiry, about 5'6 or 5'7". He's prone to patterned jumpers and check shirts

He'll sing at the drop of a hat. So keep a tight grip on yer bunnet.

Oh - and don't try to accompany him on an instrument when he sings. He feckin hates that. He's been known to machine gun people who started to strum along with him.

Cheers

SD

Fjords! Non music related, just a wee break in a different part of the world. Me and Mrs Big Tim are off tomorrow morning from Buchanan Street Bus Station with Caledonia Travel, sailing from Newcastle. Maybe this guy from Milton is on the same trip, what's his name Scabby(!)?

Umm is that Brisbane St, or Brisbane Terrace in Glasgow?

;-)

It'd probably be easier to get to Brisbane in Oz than it would be to get a bus back from Campsie to Anderston in Glasgow late night..

Ah well, anyone else up for tickets to Adam on Friday?
