Does anybody know an online resource for the music/melody of "A British Tar"? It's a sailor's song by Gilbert & Sullivan, from the opera "HMS Pinafore". Thanks a lot your your help. John.

If you want G & S midi files try HERE.

I've been known to sing Dick Dauntless' song ("I shipped d'yer see in a revenue sloop" - Ruddigore) at folk events and no-one has guessed the origin. I've also set WSG's bab ballad "The Yarn of the Nancy Bell" to music and that goes down pretty well.
