I faintly recollect a song titled Farewell Faroes, or Farewell to the Faroes, sung, perhaps by the MCCalmans.

Never heard of it, but you might try a search with the

spelling "Pharoah"

Hi Its definately spelt "Faroes", and they are a group of islands in the Atlantic near Iceland. Sorry I can't help you with the lyrics though.

'fraid I can't help with the lyrics but it is also known as 'Farewell the Faroe Isles' and is I think on 'House Full' by the McCalmans.....a cracking song; the album notes will also give a composer as it is not, I think, Trad; Orrabest! J

Thanks Frank but it's Firth of FORTH, the River Forth being the one with all the famous bridges, including the very new Queensferry Crossing.
The fourth verse looks a bit odd, in both versions: will check the YouTube clip if it's still available.

Listened repeatedly to that 4th verse, but still can't quite get it all, even with headphones on and slowing it down! But what I have so far...

Let's take her ROUND once MORE,
..... this glass with amber ....,
They say if you must ......
Then pick a time, .........or small

Make of that what you will, but I can't make sense of v 4 in either of the other 2 versions!

Have checked Ian McCalman's own lyrics site, but not there.
