Wind update - Duncan the dog was found at the mother in laws, the roof was found all over Worcestershire and the kennel has not been found at all. The Installations Manager was found in the pub. So alls well that ends well. Still blowin a gale here.

Glad the dog was found having landed safely from his (presumably) first flight.

Strange, I replied to Ross's post yesterday but Mudcat seems to have eaten it. Unless it got blown away too?

(Has anyone else ever had that happen? i.e. making a Mudcat posting only to find later on that it has vanished. It's happened to me a few times, but not often enough for me to be sure it's not finger trouble)

Jez night was very good yesterday.

I hope there'll be no wind tomorrow - I am off on an M25 jaunt and want the bridge open. pleeease.

Then it's rugby and work and Vinn at Hitchin on Sunday. So vacuuming is on the back burner. I am still waiting for my Christmas puddings in the post so I will leave the Christmas tablecloth on until they arrive.

Nice weekend all - I'll keep my eyes open for loose kennels in Kent.

I missed Vin last night (was a bit knackered, and had seen him not long ago). Glad you enjoyed him anyway Cathy.

Yes, the Mondays at Wymondley have finished - I guess if anyone wants to start them up again, they could ask the landlord? (We have our band practice on Mondays as a rule, which is probably the main reason we stopped doing them.)

As for the Friday gigs there, yes they are still on, but I can't remember who's on this month. I'll ask Alan tonight and report back.

At least the Buck's Head doesn't sell Greene King. I think it has Fullers London Pride and one or two others (I don't remember there being anything particularly exciting though). At least it has real ale though, and none of it from GK :-)

To answer your question Ross: the next gig at the Bull's Head, Wymondley is on Friday 26th Jan. It will be a duo Bob Smithson and Dave Notman (mainly mandolin/guitar I gather), with a support act from Malcolm Hobbs (another regular at Baldock).

For those who may be interested Tom Paxton is at the Stables near Milton Keynes on Friday 26th. It's his final farewell tour *but don't read too much into that, 'cos I've seen his last 2 FFT's previously*.
I strongly recommend seeing him to all folkies - he's one of those seminal artistes who still surprises you with new material.

Thought you might like to know that there's a Barn Dance at Harpenden Public Halls on Saturday 27th January with

Fiddlin' Around, caller Barry Goodman. The dance starts at 8:00 and finishes at 11:30, and costs just £8.00 a ticket.

Fiddlin' Around are an exciting twin fiddle band put together by Junction 24 frontman/fiddler Brian Stone with the intention of developing a high energy acoustic string sound that is also uplifting and exciting to dance to.

The two fiddlers work together so that an interplay of both rhythmic and melodic variations will produce a dynamic flow of exhilerating fiddling.

The band is keen on promoting the interest/popularity in French Canadian and Cape Breton music as well as music from New England and North America.

The dance is promoted by English Miscellany, who will provide a display-spot at the interval.

Glad you all had a good time last night. I was at our gaff to see Jez Lowe - great evening, with a cracking support set from "Moses and the Ref". I thought I had the night off so didn't bring my guitar, but unexpectedly had to play a song (to accompany Alan) at Jez's request, and Steve "The ref" kindly lent me his guitar (I couldn't borrow Jez's because his is left handed, and I would have had to stand on my head and face the wall to play that). Jez lent me his plectrum though (I nearly said pick but I thought you lot would start making jokes about digging up the car park).

The trellis on the wall of my house has been trying to escape in the wind, but the clematis won't let it. So what do you use to weight down the end of the to stop it waving about everywhere? bricks!

It's like the old days when you used one of your stockings as a temporary fanbelt.

Mind you - I will have done it all wrong in somebody's book - either killed the clematis or bent the trellis.
