Do you ever wake up, and one of the songs from your dream becomes an earworm that just won't go away.   Well, it's a mondegreen for sure: from the song Don't let the Sun Catch you crying. (Here it goes:) "You know that cryin's not a bad thing. So start your crying when the bed sinks.... "      I know, there's no logic to it! But if I'm going to be mentally singing it all day, at least I could use the right lyrics.   Help, please!!

What do you mean, you'll be mentally singing it all day?

Whose brain is it, yours or theirs? Put up a fight! Think of songs you love and sing, whistle or hum them. If you must go to work, do it very softly. If you're at home, get out your dulcimer (do you really have 42 of them?) and play it to drive the earworm away. As a last resort, put on recordings of music you love and pay attention to them.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light...

Don't go out tonight,
It's bound to take your life ....

There's a BATHROOM ON THE RIGHT.

Guy I jam with a lot swears his garage band sang it that way for years.

My wife hates me (cordially of course) because she has picked up a recurrent earworm from my practicing "Delia's Gone." But I have the upper hand, as I can give her a flashback practically at will. Oddly enough, in the light of the remedy suggested above, I happened to be playing that song on a dulcimer the first time ....

EVERYBODY sing!

DON'T LET THE SUN CATCH YOU CRYING
(Marsden, Marsden, Chadwick, Maguire)

Jerry and the Pacemakers version

Don't let the sun catch you cryin'
The night's the time for all your tears
Your heart may be broken tonight
But tomorrow in the morning light
Don't let the sun catch you cryin'

The night-time shadows disappear
And with them go all your tears
For the morning will bring joy
For every girl and boy
So don't let the sun catch you cryin'

We know that cryin's not a bad thing
But stop your cryin' when the birds sing

It may be hard to discover
That you've been left for another
But don't forget that love's a game
And it can always come again
Oh don't let the sun catch you cryin'
Don't let the sun catch you cryin', oh no
Oh, oh, oh

OH thank you! Now I can sing it with my best english accent, and it doesn't sound too far off from what I was singing earlier. But stop your crying when the bi'ds sing....    (not the Hoosier burrds) What a lovely song now!

And no, Leeneia. I only have 4 hammered dulcimers and 3 mountain dulcimers... but will all the other instruments counted,   Nope, that would be more that 42.   Truth is,   I was born in '42, and someone else had the screen name Dulcimer before me.... Thus: Dulcimer42
