Subject: Lyr Req: Red Wine Promises From: .spiderman Date: 21 Aug 08 - 07:43 AM Can anyone help with the lyrics to this wonderful Lal Waterson song? I've got two versions of it (one sung by Richard Thompson, the other by Norma Waterson) and still can't work out some of the verses - any help would be much appreciated. What I have so far is... Fell in the street in a drunk heap With bright water all around me And the cheap red wine in my drunken brain Has left a burning flame in my belly And I don't need nobody helping me I don't need nobody's arms around me If I was a black beetle upside down I could kick all night and never turn around I'm flat on me back in the rainbow rain ? in the morning I'll be on my feet again I just can't get a grip on the ground I'm upside down the right way round I promised him ? lady Who laughs out loud in the ? Always to be ? In my own waking dreams from a drunken night And I don't feel the yawning sunshine morning I'm forward running back again I fell in the street in a drunk heap With bright water all around me And cheap red wine in my drunken brain Has left a burning flame in my belly And I don't need anyone helping me I don't need no bugger's arms around me Oh I fell in the street in a drunk heap With bright water all around me |

I'm flat on my back in the rainbow rain, Still I know that in the morning I'll be on my feet again I promise thee my shameless lady, Who laughs out loud in the sad patient night Always to be on earth sleeping In the waking dreams of my drunken nights I don't fear no sunshine morning Powerful song eric |
