Subject: Lyr Req: Members of the Rubber Band
From: GUEST,Rowan

All the stuff on various threads referring to harmony singing has caused parts of my memory to rise to the surface; I'll avoid obvious similes.

I'm looking for the words to a song which, I think, is known as "Rubber Band". I can't find any evidence for it on the Forum or in the DT Lyrics. This doesn't mean they're not there, just that I can't find them. Googling brings out references to a band called Rubber Band but there seems to be no connection to the song I seek.

The words of the chorus, as I recall them, include

We're the members of the Rubber Band,
It's the best band in the land
and isn't it grand,
being the only band in the land
to play rubber band?

Might as well have it here.
Copied from Garry Gillard's web site:

RUBBER BAND
(Mike Waterson)

CHORUS: I'm the leader of the rubber band
It's the finest band in all the land
Isn't it grand being the only band in the land
To play rubber band.

Just like margarine our fame is spreading
And our rise to stardom won't be slow.
If we stretch our members to the limit,
I'd like to see how far the band could go. CHORUS

We're the band to catapult to stardom,
We'll never get wound up, we're never slack.
You'll never keep us down, you'll never throw us,
'cause we're the band that keeps on bouncing back. CHORUS

Somebody once gave me a rubber drum - but I couldn't find a rubber band to play it in.
