Subject: BS: Stuffed Green Peppers yum From: olddude Date: 31 Aug 09 - 04:14 PM they are in season now and they are great. Try this out it is my secret recipe that everyone knows Cut the tops of some green peppers mix up some ground beef (you could use turkey or something else if you like), 1 egg, and some instant rice, and a chopped onion and mix well Pack it into the green peppers add a large can of tomato soup (my secret) add a can of crushed tomatoes add a can of water cook for about 2 hours 400 degrees really really good, and easy ... the tomato soup counters the bitterness of the green pepper don't use hot peppers use the green bell peppers |

Subject: RE: BS: Stuffed Green Peppers From: olddude Date: 31 Aug 09 - 04:15 PM make sure you pull out the seeds when you cut the tops off the peppers, you don't want the seeds in there - bitter |

Subject: RE: BS: Stuffed Green Peppers From: Maryrrf Date: 31 Aug 09 - 04:43 PM I decided to make a homemade version of jalopeno poppers the other night - using the jalopeno peppers (I have a lot!) from the garden. Turned out great. Cut a strip off the side of the pepper to make it like a 'canoe', get rid of the seeds and stem, and stuff with a mixture of grated cheddar and cream cheese, along with whatever spices you want (I used cumin, garlic and parsley). Dip in beaten egg, roll in breadcrumbs and put on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for a half hour. They were really good! |

Subject: RE: BS: Stuffed Green Peppers From: Sorcha Date: 31 Aug 09 - 04:53 PM Mince equal parts of jalepeno pepper, celery and pimento stuffed green olives. About 1 cup of each. Just cover with good olive oil. Let stand in fridge overnight before eating. |

Subject: RE: BS: Stuffed Green Peppers From: pdq Date: 31 Aug 09 - 05:27 PM The substitution of Snap E Tom for tomato sauce (or soup) sounds great. Anybody tried using V8? |

Subject: RE: BS: Stuffed Green Peppers From: Rapparee Date: 31 Aug 09 - 05:31 PM Take several habenero peppers, clean them, reserving the seeds. Mix the seeds with a good hot sausage and cook until the sausage is done. While it's cooking, mince some Scotch Bonnets and Thai Peppers and mix with the cooked sausage/seed mixture. Stuff the habeneros and set them upright in any leftover stuffing. Pour a bottle of Bad Ass hot sauce over all. Notify the local hazmat team to remove this and go a a restaurant for dinner. |

Subject: RE: BS: Stuffed Green Peppers From: Sorcha Date: 31 Aug 09 - 05:43 PM Yes. It was OK, but I didn't care for the 'celery' flavour in stuffed peppers. |
