Subject: RE: jpeg picture of Harvey Andrews required From: treewind Date: 24 Mar 10 - 07:02 PM I always try Google Images Search first for that sort of thing. But doesn't Harvey have any pics he can send you? Anahata |
Subject: RE: jpeg picture of Harvey Andrews required From: Rasener Date: 24 Mar 10 - 07:12 PM Hi Anahata I have tried downloading a picture that I like but the quality is not good enough. I was hoping somebody might have taken a great picture of him on stage recently that would complement you and Mary's Picture :-) Maybe somebody has one of him singing at a Birmingham City match. He is not likely to be in a good mood tonight as they lost. :-) I am trying to finish off the webpage for the double bill with you and Mary. If nobody can help, I will phone Sue at Routes Music tomorrow. Cheers Les |

Subject: RE: jpeg picture of Harvey Andrews required From: GUEST,Pedant Date: 25 Mar 10 - 05:31 AM Since when has the plural of 'photo' had an apostrophe? |
Subject: RE: jpeg picture of Harvey Andrews required From: Rasener Date: 25 Mar 10 - 05:34 AM Quite right Pedant. My mistake. |
Subject: RE: jpeg picture of Harvey Andrews required From: GUEST,Pedant Date: 25 Mar 10 - 05:36 AM Most gracious of you, Villan. |
Subject: RE: jpeg picture of Harvey Andrews required From: Rasener Date: 25 Mar 10 - 06:05 AM Well it's nice to be civil, isn't it :-) Harvey Andrews and Mary Humphreys & Anahata |
Subject: RE: jpeg picture of Harvey Andrews required From: GUEST Date: 25 Mar 10 - 09:57 AM Don't cave in too quickly, Les. What's wrong with the apostrophe, dear pedant? I believe it's ok to use an apostrophe where one misses letters from a word, is it not? The word photographs expressed as photo's is acceptable, surely? That's the way you meant it, isn't it Les? ;0) Rules for the correct use of the apostrophe. The apostrophe is used: 1.To indicate the possessive. 2.To indicate missing letters. 3.Sometimes to indicate the structure of unusual words. Or is it just me talking boll's? ;0) |
Subject: RE: jpeg picture of Harvey Andrews required From: George Papavgeris Date: 25 Mar 10 - 10:03 AM Your write to apologies, Les, its rong too use the apostrophy like that. |
Subject: RE: jpeg picture of Harvey Andrews required From: Rasener Date: 25 Mar 10 - 10:45 AM LOL I agree that normally you would use the apostrophy when letters are missing from a word and that indeed was why I did it, but as is the English language, we have to have things that do not follow the rules as in the case of Photos :-) Now I will be accused of too long a sentence :-) |
Subject: RE: jpeg picture of Harvey Andrews required From: George Papavgeris Date: 25 Mar 10 - 11:01 AM Non, not to long |
Subject: RE: jpeg picture of Harvey Andrews required From: MikeL2 Date: 25 Mar 10 - 04:51 PM hi les In this case I think you will find that the word photo is an accepted shortened version of photograph. As such it is a noun in it's own right. So the plural of photo is..................photos. cheers mike |
Subject: RE: jpeg picture of Harvey Andrews required From: Rasener Date: 25 Mar 10 - 05:09 PM I think I am going to go to text talk Mike :-) |
