I am going around the twist trying to find the ballad, "Green Eyes", that was written by a young woman who is no longer living. Can't recall her name but the first line of the ballad is, "every night I light the candle", and it goes on. It has such beautiful words and music I know you all probably know it.
I had found it on utube about 7 or 8 years ago, but I have not had any luck searching for it today.
As is the distant past, thanks to all the mud-catters for wonderful help. I don't come on very often as I no longer have a computer. Yes, it is a drag.

Love and blessings all.

You are looking for 'Green Eyes' by the sublime Kate Wolf:

GREEN EYES
(Kate Wolf)

Every night we light the candle
That stands beside our bed
But sometimes the flame's too much to handle
That's what you said.
That's what you said
And you should know
Because you built a fire in me and you made it burn
You followed me, watching every move,
Matching every turn.

Chorus:
Your green eyes they don't miss a thing
They hold me like the sun going down
Warm me like a fire in the night, without a sound

You were waiting till I heard
Just as patient as that love light in your eyes
You never threw away a word,
Or ever talked in a disguise
I ought to know
You were a beacon to a sailor lost at sea
I saw it in your eyes
When you looked at me
So openly.

chorus

The first time I ever saw your laughter
Break loose inside and tumble out to me
My heart knew it had found what it was after
And it came so easily
We should know
After all the years of the hard and heavy times
Now our days go by like best friends' story lines
Yours and mine

chorus

--Stewie.

My pleasure, Rickie.

I believe there was a clip of Kate singing this on Youtube, but it has disappeared. There is a video with still photos here:

Thanks for the link, Stewie.

Does anyone have the chords handy?   I can probably figure them out myself, but if someone actually has the chord progression that Kate used and can post it here, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks Phil!!!   I am happy to have them also.
Stewie, I had seen that clip on utube also...........it was stellar! Too bad they removed it. She was a real word master. I loved the way she put her words to music......really lovely.

Blessings all

Today, I came across the same video BK Lick posted above. It's one of the best YouTube videos I've seen of a live Kate Wolf performance. Kate died in 1986, and I never had the pleasure of seeing her perform. I understand that she was a "regular" at the San Francisco Folk Music Club's Camp Harmony for a number of years. I didn't start going to Camp Harmony until 1999, but I've missed only one year since then.
