Hello my lovely intelligent, talented virtual friends.

I am a member of the Disabled Employees Network. Today's meeting set us a challenge to come up with ideas to address "Hidden Barriers" in some format to help managers and colleagues across the organisation understand that disability isn't limited to obvious limitations such as sense impairment and mobility.

We thought a Panto would be fun with characters acting out the not so obvious disabilities, such as Crohn's, Rheumatoid Arthritis, depression, Aspergers, etc.

I started thinking Snow White and Seven Dwarves named according to disability. Crohns - Leaky, RA - Creaky, Depression - Bleaky, 2 different Aspergers - Geeky and Cheeky. Of course we don't have to have all 7 dwarfs names rhyme.

I am stuck for some other disabilities that are not so obvious.

Then need to start writing script to depict the hidden disabilities. Thought I would make Snow white the proverbial manager trying to figure out why dwarves are having so much difficulty completing instructions she gives them or why there is so much absence from work place, etc.

So peeps if you want to accept the challenge, your ideas are most gratefully welcome. We have one week to get it sussed and less than two months to find actors and learn parts. It is hoped it will be performed for organisation managers 1st week of December for International Day of Disabled People.

Challenge is now on. GO!

You could have the Queen's Necromancer, who's dyslexic and has sold his soul to Santa. The Prince has Tourette's- oh, Charming! Hugh Watt is deaf. And an eighth dwarf- Innumeracy.

Thank you Paul. Intersting ideas. I think we will be short of actors and some may need to do double duty.
Now need to set specific tasks to specific limitations in a comical way. The point is to teach not preach about hidden barriers.

There's one which both my son and I suffer from: Disgraphia. When I was a kid we were told "just do it, kid." Now, it's a disability and it's "Oh, you poor child." The problem is basically ugly handwriting. Common among doctors, too. Court physician, anyone?

Ok... I guess this is a no go. I don't have time or energy to pull it together and not surprisingly neither does anyone else the the Disabled Employee Network.

Since meeting it has gone deathly quiet on the subject on Yammer (work social network).
