Subject: BS: Midge Paxton From: kendall Date: 04 Jun 14 - 07:44 AM I've been told that Midge Paxton died. I sent him an email rather than calling him, because he will be swamped with calls. Life sucks, especially when it ends. Kendall, I moved this up and changed the title. Hope that's OK. -JC |

Subject: RE: Obit: Midge Paxton (June 2014) From: frogprince Date: 04 Jun 14 - 10:56 AM So sorry to hear this. Tom has made it plain that the wonderful quality of his love songs has in great part come from trying to express his love for Midge adequately. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Midge Paxton (June 2014) From: Jason Xion Wang Date: 04 Jun 14 - 11:28 AM Was just listening to "I Give You the Morning" a few hours earlier. Really sorry to hear that Midge passed away. |
Subject: RE: Obit: Midge Paxton (June 2014) From: GUEST,Anne Neilson Date: 04 Jun 14 - 12:35 PM I've seen Tom perform over many years (in Glasgow, Scotland) and bought his recordings over that same period. There are many of his political songs that move me; many of his humorous songs that brought a big smile -- as well as an appreciation of his skill with words, rhyme and rhythm; and always there were the love songs! As a Scot, my standard for love songs has to be Robert Burns, but Tom is a real contender…. Burns was working with known traditional tunes, to which he added poignant and heartfelt lyrics: the result was masterpieces like 'My Love is like a Red, Red Rose' and 'Ae Fond Kiss' etc. But Tom had to provide both the music and the lyrics, so it was always evident that Midge was a very wonderful person! So sorry to hear the news that this very special partnership has ended. |
