Subject: RE: BS: Tom Paxton on A Prairie Home Companion From: catspaw49 Date: 10 Aug 01 - 03:35 PM I'm sure most regular listeners and most 'Catters are aware that Garrison Keillor had a mitral valve replacement at the Mayo on July 25. Nice to have something in common with him, but I was luckier to be somewhere that had a daVinci Robot. You can't believe the difference in having your heart operated on without sawing through the steernum and opening the chest! Dr. Michler has been up to the Mayo on several occasions as well as many other heart centers singing the praises of the daVinci. Hope Garrison feels as good as I do! Spaw |

Subject: RE: BS: Tom Paxton on A Prairie Home Companion From: Mark Cohen Date: 11 Aug 01 - 04:23 AM 'Spaw, I think you forgot your curmudgeon pills this morning. Or did Leo really give you a change of heart? But I'll second what Sharon said, anyway. Back on topic: a few years ago I heard a Tom Paxton CD, and his voice sounded really thin and tired. I was worried about his health, but if he's still touring I guess he's OK. Anybody know? I've been a fan of his since I was in high school, and that goes back more than 30 years. Aloha, Mark |
Subject: RE: BS: Tom Paxton on A Prairie Home Companion From: bigchuck Date: 11 Aug 01 - 07:49 AM I heard Tom last Sunday at the Champlain Festival. He sure sounded fine to me. He has just released a CD that he did with Ann Hills which should be pretty good. Sandy |
Subject: RE: BS: Tom Paxton on A Prairie Home Companion From: Tedham Porterhouse Date: 11 Aug 01 - 11:09 AM Tom seemed in great shape to me last weekend at Champlain Valley. I think I took in all of his appearances there: songwriters workshop, Saturday night mainstage, Sunday kids' concert, Sunday duo concert with Anne Hills and the festival finale. I thought that all were fabulous. After 40 years on the scene, Tom Paxton remains one of the best performers (and songwriters I've ever seen and heard. |
Subject: RE: BS: Tom Paxton on A Prairie Home Companion From: Mark Cohen Date: 12 Aug 01 - 03:10 AM Good to hear...thanks! I only heard him perform once, at the Main Point near Philly in 1971, and I'm glad I had that opportunity. Aloha, Mark |
