Subject: harp players From: sharon Date: 24 Jun 97 - 02:16 PM I just purchased a 3 1/2 octave folk harp and a Kim Robertson instructional video. Harp is one instrument I have never before attempted to learn. Any help, suggestions, available web sites, etc. would sure be appreciated. thanks! |
Subject: RE: harp players From: Susan of DT Date: 24 Jun 97 - 07:30 PM Sharon, You have been asking a lot of interesting questions. There are several harp societies with publications. The most active seems to be International Society of Folk Harpers and Craftsmen; 4718 Maychelle Dr; Anaheim CA 92807-3040. Membership is $18. They produce a 70 page journal quarterly. There is also a Scottish group, whose journal I do not see at the moment. The Welsh Harp Society of North America is at 838 Elgin Ave; Forest Park IL 60130-2027. Another teaching book (there are several)is Sylvia Woods' Teach Yourself to Play Folk Harp. I have not learned to play my harp, so I am a fine one to advise others, but mostly listen to several harpers. There are plenty with recordings I can dig out more refernces if you want them. |
