And you know that I must go, a stor

In a day now I'll be over the mountain
There'll be time enough left for to cry
So good night and God guard you forever
And write to me won't you, goodbye
So good night and God guard you forever
And write to me won't you, goodbye

Dear all,

I've been searching all possible midi resourses for the song "Kitty", a traditional as sung by The Pogues (http://www.dzm.com/Pogues/Releases/Lyrics/LPs/RedRoses/Kitty.html)but it isn't out there. It would be a wonderfull tune helping me to learn to play the accordion.

Your help is welcome,

Rik (Please e-mail me at : Rik.Vandenkerckhove@rug.ac.be)

Sorry Ralph, it isn´t. Kiwi: It´s on ´Red Roses For Me´ Henrik: Many thanks! You filled the gaps. I also heard it as ´the police are watching´, but what´s the significance? The second verse begins with ´So subtly he then kissed her pale lips´. Your chords seem to be the same as I heard them. Bye ,Seamrog

Seamrog,

Here you are (chords are my suggestion only):

KITTY (trad)
       G
"Oh, Kitty my darling, remember
C
that the doom will be mine if I stay
G
'Tis for better to part though it's hard to,
C D G
than to rot in their prison away
'Tis for better to part though it's hard to
C D G
than to rot in their prison away"
So softly he then kissed her farewell
'Twas the same story over and o'er
"Hush now darling (?), the police are watching,
and you know that I must go ashore
Hush now darling (?), the police are watching,
and you know that I must go ashore"

"In a day I'll be over the mountain,
There'll be time enough left for to cry
So goodnight and God guard you forever,
and write to me won't you, goodbye
So goodnight and God guard you forever,
and write to me won't you, goodbye"

With compliments,

Henrik

Seamrog.....

I have a "Kitty" by Joan Baez and Bill Wood. Dates from the late '50's. Nice song.

Out in the wide world, Kitty,
    Pretty Kitty.
Out in the wide world, Kitty,
    Far across the sea........etc.

Is this the same song?......Tiger

Seamrog, do you know which album it's from? I don't know where you've looked, so I'm going to fall back on the old remedy.. try a keyword search for "Pogues" and check out a few of the pages dedicated to their music.. you might find the lyrics to "Kitty" there. It's where I found the lyrics to "A Rainy Night in Soho", though I"m still waiting on a tape copy of it which is probably still in the snail mail somewhere.
