And here it is, links to the RealPlayer recording of the interview:

Wildwood Flower. (14.4 | 28.8) -- As part of the NPR 100, our list of the 100 most important American songs in the 20th century, Dick Spottswood, a record producer and radio host at WAMU in Washington, D.C, reviews the history behind the song Wildwood Flower. The song, like many recorded by the country music group The Carter Family, was passed down from generation-to-generation, without the benefit of the written word. Though its lyrics are peculiar, its melody has been re-recorded by many artists over the years. (6:30)

Take a listen!

NightWing

Sitting here at work listening to NPR's "All Things Considered". They just announced that tomorrow morning there will be an intervew with all/some (?) of the Carter Family: at least in part about the song Wildwood Flower.

For those of you not in the States, NPR is National Public Radio. It fulfills roughly the same function as the BBC in England. They have a website here and you can hear the most recent show there with RealPlayer about two or three hours after it gets aired, so you should be able to find it there about 2000 Dec 14 13:00 UTC (GMT).

Hope it's as good as it might be.

I'll try to post a link to the Real Audio tomorrow as soon as I can find it on the site.

BB,
NightWing
