Since reading the recent biography of Scottish/English guitarist Bert Jansch, I've been trying to find the Acoustic Routes video, where he appears, and also narrates. Does anyone know where I can get it?

as far as I know the BBC have not released a DVD of Acoustic Routes, and have never repeated the programme either, but clips of the programme are all on Youtube and have been collected in one place Here for ease of viewing.

It's just come out on DVD to celebrate its 30th anniversary. Whilst it doesn't now have the impact the original programme had in the pre-YouTube days, it's still an important piece of film-making and great to watch, even if Bert wasn't (by his own admission in the book Dazzling Stranger) at his best.

It's available on Amazon, not sure if it will be available in media shops.

Also being released is a box set which will include both an expanded two cd soundtrack as well as an expanded two dvd version of the film. Comes with a 38 page booklet but sadly, no tea towel (inside joke.) Details are at universal-music.co.uk (Happy Shopping!)

Just opened up the DVD this afternoon and watched it. Lots of nostalgia and memories for me and some excellent playing from 20 years ago.

I have to say that, for me, the highlight was seeing Brownie McGhee in action - simple, direct - the real deal.

I bought a copy of the new dvd as well Will, but what I am really looking forward to is the box set which will feature an additional 45 minute dvd of the complete Bert and Brownie encounter.
