MummersWe will be performing again this year with several Mudcatters playing different parts.

Salford Priors PlayThis year we are doing the Salford Priors Mummers Play, which is based on the disjointed recollections of Ross Hunt and Jack Basket of Salford Priors. It has been pieced together from the records in the Carpenter Collection, which is part of the Morris Ring of England's National Mummers Archive kept by Ron Shuttleworth. They were taught the play in the 1880s by Ernest Bennett of Hampton and Albert Teal of Salford Priors and had never seen it written down.

Programme We would welcome seeing any Mudcatters at our performances, which are around South Warwickshire, North Gloucestershire and East Worcestershire, in a total of 30 pubs between 30 November and 6 January. See Mummers programme for the details.

Songs We always finish with one of three traditional songs: Not For Joe, Camptown Races and Old Bob Riddley.

My uncle Billy had a ten-foot w*ll**
And he showed it to the girl next door,
She thought it was a snake and hit it with a rake,
And now its only five foot four...

Wassail!
Alan

Don't forget ... the first performances are tonight at
8.45pm Coach & Horses, Harvington
9.30pm Golden Cross, Harvington
10.15pm Queen's Head, Iron Cross
all in the area between Stratford-upon-Avon and Evesham. We look forward to seeing some Mudcatters. There should be some singing after the last performance.

But he's still asking, isn't he, Lady P! *grin*

Have a good time, Alan, Snuffy and Stan (I presume) and the rest of the players, and have a pint for me. Bit too far for me to travel down for the evening, unfortunately, though I'd love to see you all do your play. Maybe another time?

Noreen

I was interested to read that you performed the Salford Priors' mummers play in 2001. I would have been interested to see it. My grandfather, Thomas Barnett, lived next door to Ross Hunt in Salford Priors when he was a boy and performed in that play later in life.

Weird?????????
how else does one entice a kiss from a young virgin???
I was the Royal 0'Prussia King that night and would like to thank a very nice girl called Natasha for bringing me back to life at the Snozzle, and then a female dentist operated on me at the Crown later!!

we won't mention the infamous night of the 13th
