Is there a barber in the house?

Could a barber please make his way to the rear of the tent where Charlie Lansborough, Ronnie Drew, Pecker Dunne, Daithi Sproule and Jackie Daly are currently beard-locked.

This is an emergency!

Repeat.

There is a serious case of beard-lock underway at the rear of the tent! Musicians with splendid facial hair are advised to make their way to the front of the tent as quickly as possible and to maintain a safe distance from other musicians who are well-endowed with hair in the gub region.

Ladies and gentlemen

Could I please ask you all to houl' yer whisht for a few minutes. There are rumours that Liam Reilly of Bag O'Hell and Chris de Burgh have been spotted in the Edenderry area, asking if people know the way to "the great session" that's goin' on ...

We've sent a few boys out to put them off the scent. But unless you keep 'er down for a bit they'll hear us.

So, remember ... keep it down ... else ye'll be listenin' to Lady In Red and Summer In Dublin!

Ladies and gentlemen

Thank you for your co-operation.

We have it on good authority that Reilly and de Burgh are back on the train to Dublin.

While I've got your attention, could anyone that's lost a wee child please contact the information desk. The child was found during the emergency barbering operation that took care of the earlier beard-lock incident.

He's about three foot high, a skinny ugly wee bugger with a set of uilleann pipes on him.

No ... houl' on. Stand down! It's Paddy Moloney!

There is a security alert on the main Belfast-Dublin railway line. Police are investigating a suspicious device on the track outside Newry. The device, which resembles an upturned bucket, is likely to delay services for at least a week. Passengers are being bussed back to Portadown. Translink apologises for not having a better excuse.

Aye ... I know what you mean Chris. I'd love to do "Summer in Dublin" with Lunny on bouzouki. You could do "Lady In Red", unaccomapnied but for Gino Lupari and Christy Moore doing a bodhran duet in the background!

Reports are coming in that a replacement bus service, instigated because of an earlier bomb threat on the Dublin-Belfast line outside Newry, has been hijacked.

Two of the passengers - believed to be Liam Reilly of crap Dublin band "Bag Of Hell" and crap musician and crap person generally, Chris de Burgh - were seen to have been led away by masked men before the bus was allowed to continue its journey back to Belfast via Portydown.

A statement from the Popular Front for the Prevention of Shite Music has claimed responsibility for the hijacking and subsequent kidnapping.

It claims that both "musicians" are being well-treated and being subjected to regular exposure to recordings by The Bothy Band, Thin Lizzy, Horslips, Planxty, Stiff Little Fingers, The Undertones and other "credible" Irish acts in an effort to rehabilitate them prior to their release back into society.

There have been at least 4 campsite at Drumcree threads and then a couple more Drumcree threads. I have contributed to any of them, under any pseudonym, but I am here now just to tell you about an article in this month's edition of Beo on-line. Liz Curtis tells of the feud between the editors of the Portadown News and the Andersontown News. The Andytown News condemns the humour of the Portydown News and since the A'town News doesn't find the Portydown News funny, the latter has satirised columnists of the A'town News (I don't know how significant it is that the two columnists Liz mentions are also known as Sinn Féin activists). After the Portydown News was first condemned by the rival paper, it was kicked off its site due to complaints to the server. The on-line mag found another server, but as a result of the name and shame campaign, its (formerly anonymous)editor eventually resigned his job with a computer company. He is now a freelancejournalist.

"I have contributed to any of them" above should of course be "I have not contributed to any of them" [until today]

The following lines were found written in Ogham script in a bottle unearthed yesterday in a moss near Derrytrasna, close by Lurgan, Co. Amagh.

Translation courtesy of Dr Breandann O'Hairyfeatures.

I am Ireland
I am older than the Hag of Beara
Great is my glory
I who drunk the ruby buckie
Great is my shame
I drunk Clan Dew and started bokin'
I am Ireland
I am lonelier than the Hag of Beara

THE CAMPSITE AT DRUMCREE

Oh then Sammy, dear, did you hear the news that's going round
Our brethren are forbid by law to march through Portadown
That's a piece of news, my boy, that makes my blood run cold
To think the loyal Orange cannot walk Garvaghy road
Cannot walk Garvaghy road, cannot walk Garvaghy road
To think the loyal Orange cannot walk Garvaghy road

They say the whinging fenians are kicking up a fuss
Along their road they do not want to see the likes of us
With our colours and our emblems and our bands, so young and keen
With their "Derry's Walls" and "Dolly's Braes" and the oul' "God Save the Queen"
The oul' "God Save The Queen", the oul' "God Save The Queen"
With their "Derry's Walls" and "Dolly's Braes" and the oul' "God Save The Queen"

If we're not allowed to march, whatever shall we do?
For we must show the world that we are loyal, brave and true
We'll put up such resistance, we'll bring England to its knees
So come on, Sam, stout Orangeman, we'll camp out in Drumcree
We'll camp out in Drumcree, we'll camp out in Drumcree
So come on, Sam, stout Orangeman, we'll camp out in Drumcree

Such a loyal encampment, you never 'fore did see
As the camp that was erected by the brave boys of Drumcree
Whenever there's a long weekend, the only place I'll go
Is to the orange campsite near the oul' Garvaghy Road
Near the oul' Garvaghy Road, near the oul' Garvaghy Road
Is to the orange campsite near the oul' Garvaghy Road

I love to go a wandering along the mountain track
But when I'm in those distant hills I'm longing to get back
For I long to sleep beneath the stars that twinkle high above
The camping site near Portadown, the wee town that I love
The wee town that I love, the wee town that I love
The camping site near Portadown, the wee town that I love

On holidays some brethren go up North to Portrush Town
But I like to spend my fortnight in a field near Portadown
There are no flashing slot machines and no foaming billows roar
But we sit around the fire and sing "The Sash My Father Wore"
"The Sash My Father Wore", "The Sash My Father Wore"
We sit around the fire and sing "The Sash My Father Wore"

We don't care if it's lashing, our camp we'll not desert
For the causes's sake me boys, I'll proudly wade through dirt
(Besides my family residence is a few yards down the road
I sneak in round the back some nights when it gets a wee bit cold
When it gets a wee bit cold, when it gets a wee bit cold
I sneak in round the back some nights when it gets a wee bit cold)

The on-site facilities are hardly up to scratch
We pooly in a bucket and do the rest we crouch
Down in a corner of a field where the nettles sting our ass
For the cause of dear oul' Ulster, we wipe with a clipe of grass
We wipe with a clipe of grass, we wipe with a clipe of grass
For the cause of dear oul' Ulster, we wipe with a clipe of grass
