Subject: RE: Lyr Req: colors donovan From: GUEST,curmudgeon Date: 21 Oct 02 - 07:08 PM From the dimmest recesses of my brain, bt not necissarily in this order: Yellow is the colour of my true love's hair, In the morning, when we rise, In the morning, when we rise. That's the time, that's the time That I love best. Blue is the colour of my true love's eyes etc. Green is the colour of the sparkling corn, etc. Mindless and vapid unless you're awfully young and romantic -- Tom |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: colors donovan From: GUEST,Purple Hair Running through the Brain Date: 10 Jan 05 - 01:53 AM Hi! The above title are lyrics from a song in the 60's but although I don't remember the title of the song, nor the composer, it sounded like Donovan. If anyone knows the title of this song, please let me know. Some of the lyrics are: Purple hair, runnin' through the brain...don't seem the same...my misery. Whatever it is she put a spell on me. Thats all that I remember. Thanks! E-mail: hearingthenews@aol.com |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: colors donovan From: Susanne (skw) Date: 10 Jan 05 - 06:57 PM Guest, it might be worth starting a new thread for this, with the beginning of the lyrics as its subject. Under the present subject, not many people will realise what you're really looking for. Otherwise, I can't help. Good hunting! |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Colors (Donovan) From: Joe Offer Date: 08 Aug 16 - 02:10 AM Here are the lyrics we have in the Digital Tradition. Any corrections, other than that we should probably spell the title "Colours"? COLORS (Donovan?) Yellow is the color of my true love's hair In the mornin', when we rise In the mornin', when we rise That's the time, that's the time, I love the best Blue is the color of the sky In the mornin', when we rise In the mornin', when we rise That's the time, that's the time, I love the best Green is the color of the sparklin' corn In the mornin', when we rise In the mornin', when we rise That's the time, that's the time, I love the best Mellow is the feeling that I get When I see her -- um-hmm When I see her -- uh-huh That's the time, that's the time, I love the best Freedom is a word I rarely use Without thinkin' -- um-hmm Without thinkin' -- uh-huh Of the time, yes the time, when I been low @love @color filename[ COLOROF TUNE FILE: COLOROF CLICK TO PLAY JY |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Colors / Colours (Donovan) From: michaelr Date: 08 Aug 16 - 03:23 PM That's just as recorded, Joe. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Colors / Colours (Donovan) From: BrooklynJay Date: 08 Aug 16 - 10:23 PM Joe, The lyrics you have posted are from Donovan's original recording. In later versions, he sometimes inverted the order of verses two and three (or omitted the "green" verse entirely), and/or repeated the first verse at the end. These can all be found on YouTube. But, for a truly bizarre lyric change, listen to this version done live in 1972. Don't think I'll be doing that version any time soon! Jay |
