I've been trying to dig up the lyrics of this gem from Donovan's album "Open Road" but have so far been unsuccessful. The song begins:

Down down down in the murky gloom
Trolls go marching two by two

Further lyrics reference words and names I can't decipher, possibly Gaelic ones.

If anyone could help me out, I'd be more than thankful.

I've got the song book at home, Matt, but the trouble is I'm 13,000(?) miles away from home at the moment.

If you haven't got a response in 6 weeks I'll post them (and chords, if you want) then!

Allan

I found this in our Donovan songbook but I have to admit I don't remember ever having heard it and so I might have split the lines up wrong.

CELTIC ROCK
Donovan Leitch

Down in the wood in the murky gloom
trolls go marching two by two
Down through the cave in the mouth of doom
down down down in the gloom gloom gloom

hey ka-la ho ka-la ho la jai
(but look) who should come by the mountain way
young Finn Hanley a lute he play
clothed in scarlet livery
all wide eyed in the bright moon day
ti-ree tir-a-loo tir-a-loo i ay

I i da di di di di di day i i di i i day
I i da di di di di di day i i di i i day
i ya da di di di di di day
(instrumental break)
i-yi-da-di di di di di day i-i-di i-i-day
i-yi-da-di di di di di day i-i-di i-i-day
i ya da di di di di-da yay

Let me know if you want the chords or dots.

Regards Marion
