Here is a two-stanza English version:

God is born, great powers tremble,
Lord of Heaven lies forsaken.
Fire is frozen, splendor darkens,
feeble nature God has taken.
     Lowly born, yet Lord to Praises,
     Mortal yet the King of Ages.
Now indeed the Word made Flesh has
     come on earth to dwell among us.

Where, oh heaven, is thy splendor,
dimmed is now your starry azure.
Earth now holds in lowly manger,
the divine unfathomed Treasure!
     God e'en now in pain does glory
     as unfolds Redemption's story.
Now indeed the Word made Flesh has
     come on earth to dwell among us.

The author is, according to Ms. Mêkarska, the famous 18th-century poet Franciszek Karpiñski. The English translator is unknown. My hymnal also has an anonymous four-stanza Esperanto translation.

Thanks to email from a Polish reader, Marta Mêkarska (or Mękarska?), I now have the complete, corrected text to this most famous of koledy (Polish carols) in my online hymnal. Here it is (but you'll probably have to toggle your encoding to get the right diacritics; set it to Central European (ISO) if you have it) - note this is also sort of a test to see if Central European encoding can be retrievably posted at the Mudcat:

1. Bóg się rodzi, moc truchleje,
   Pan niebiosów obnażony!
   Ogień krzepnie, blask ciemnieje,
   Ma granice Nieskończony!
   Wzgardzony, okryty chwałą,
   Śmiertelny, Król nad wiekami!
   A Słowo Ciałem się stało
   I mieszkało między nami.
2. Cóż masz niebo nad ziemiany
   Bóg porzucił szczęście swoje
   Wszedł między lud ukochany
   Dzieląc z nim trudy i znoje
   Niemało cierpiał niemało,
   Żeśmy byli winni sami
   A Słowo Ciałem się stało
   I mieszkało między nami.
3. W nędznej szopie urodzony,
   Żłób Mu za kolebkę dano,
   Cóż jest, czym był otoczony ?
   Bydło, pasterze i siano.
   Ubodzy, was to spotkało
   Witać Go przed bogaczami
   A Słowo Ciałem się stało
   I mieszkało między nami.
4. Potem i króle widziani
   Cisną się między prostotą,
   Niosąc dary Panu w dani:
   Mirę, kadzidło i złoto.
   Bóstwo to razem zmieszało
   Z wieśniaczymi ofiarami.

   I mieszkało między nami.
5. Podnieś rękę, Boże Dziecię,
   Błogosław ojczyznę miłą,
   W dobrych radach, w dobrym bycie
   Wspieraj jej siłę swą siłą,
