The BBC has a listen again thingy so you can listen on line. Someone with more techy knowledge than me would have to tell you how to do it.

I think Sophie sounds interesting - she's obviously been around a bit and might have a few sophisticated novelties to offer.

A few suggestions - assuming that some cast members are competent instrumentalists

"Man of constant sorrow" for David or Tony?
"D-i-v-o-r-c-e" for Ruth?
"Hate to the Wedding" for Adam
"Speed the plough" for Bert
"The disappointed coquette" for Emma
"The unfortunate rake" for Ed
"The maid behind the bar" for Jolene or "the drunken landlady"

* Demo CDs/tapes are non-returnable and may be sold for profit at a later date.

Still, that's only once every three months.

We need some singers/session nights as well as guests though.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

The perfect bill for me would include someone with a sense of humour (Vin Garbutt, Les Barker), and up and coming group (Devil's Interval, Kerfufffle) A top celtic band, (Croab Ruah, Lunasa) and a solo artist who could do the Village pump and similar songs.

Want to know how to make Sid and Jolene go into hysterics? Ask them if you can hold a folk club in The Bull on Saturday night. Bloomin' embarrassing it was. "Saturday night? Saturday night?" they said, and then it was the hysterics. Said they hadn't had such a good laugh in ages and pulled me a pint of Shires for my sense of humour. When they realised I was serious they said they could do Tuesday no problem, or at a push, Thursday. (Sid said if he'd known I was serious at the start he'd have charged me for the pint). Can you manage any of these dates MBSLynne? If so perhaps we could get a list of Mudcat performers prepared to do a gig on the cheap (very cheap) to get us started. I think Ann Lister's posted on this thread, so perhaps we could sweet talk her into doing the gig for free? When we gets a few names we could put a flyer together. What do you think?

Yeah..village pumps.

I think the Ambridge side disbanded years ago.

Don't suppose Jolene will allow some of Eddie's cider in? No I thought not. Actually, what kind of cider DO they serve in the Bull?

I was wondering whether to bring a North West side along but I guess Jolene wouldn't like clog iron scars on the dance floor. It'll have to be the local side I suppose - I think they dance in pumps in Borsetshire.

Mine's a pint of Shires. Best beer in Borsetshire.

We need to get in touch with the morris dancers - they would help swell the crowd.

You're right about Will picking up Tom's bad habits of being a boring and smug knowall so I suppose it's only a matter of time before he goes to air singing Tom's song.

Next Saturday's cool. Lets go for it (by the way its also the night of Sophie's do. She might drop in the Bull looking fo Dave so we could set her right about Ruth etc)

As I recall Tony used to have a hankering for folk music - wasn't he groupie to a singer called Allan in the 60's?

See you Sat. Get em in if you're there first - mine's a Guiness.

I bet Lillian knows a song or two if we can keep her G&T-filled. Since William has taken over a lot of Tom Forrest's inheritance, do you think he's also learnt "The Village Pump"?

How about next Saturday if we can persuade Jolene?

I'd be prepared to come along if you'll promise that Ed Grundy doesn't do his guitar thrashing thing. And can we agree that if Eddy comes the only American stuff we do is pre-war(II). And keep Jolene behind the bar or she'll take over. As a plus, I hear that Fallon's got quite a repetoire of Borsetshire songs, and Jazzer is a whiz on the bodhran when he can find the time and energy.

Hey IW...how about Saturday night for the folk club, as long as there's nothing on in the room upstairs? Sounds like an ideal place for it to me. Is there still a piano in the Bull? I know the one in the Cat and Fiddle was never any good again after Eddie threw up in it

I don't think Ruth has told David about the phone call from Sophie so he doesn't know about the invitation - so she will ring him afterwards and ask why he missed it . . .

I am hoping David tells Ruth that he and Sophie are having an affair just so we can hear her say "OoooooooooooH Daaaaaaaaaayvid"......

And I do like the way the sound effect people do heavy breathing, "Moooooh, Arrrghhhhh, Moooo Arrrghhhhh".

ok so I got it wrong about Ruth's fall.

But remember what I earlier pointed out about David's forthcoming night out with Sophie on Nov 25 (as I recall). Question is, have the scriptwriters remembered?

Go for it Dave.
