From: GUEST,Jim I

I can vaguely remember a song I heard years ago, I think a contemporary song, which goes something like this;

Through the corridors of sleep
Past a shadow? dark and deep
My mind dances and leaps in confusion
I can't ? what I ?
I cant touch what I ?
And I hide behind the veil? of my ?

Chorus
So I continue to continue
To pretend
That my life will never end
And that flowers never bend
With the rainfall?

Ant ideas of song, title or artist

Cheers.

FLOWERS NEVER BEND WITH THE RAINFALL Lyrics
Simon & Garfunkel

Through the corridors of sleep
Past the shadows dark and deep
My mind dances and leaps in confusion.
I don't know what is real,
I can't touch what I feel
And I hide behind the shield of my illusion.

So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end,
And flowers never bend
With the rainfall.

The mirror on my wall
Casts an image dark and small
But I'm not sure at all it's my reflection.
I am blinded by the light
Of God and truth and right
And I wander in the night without direction.

So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end,
And flowers never bend
With the rainfall.

It's no matter if you're born
To play the King or pawn
For the line is thinly drawn 'tween joy and sorrow,
So my fantasy
Becomes reality,
And I must be what I must be and face tomorrow.

So I'll continue to continue to pretend
My life will never end,
And flowers never bend
With the rainfall.

Paul Simon wrote this and it is on his Paul Simon Song Book album, my book has it as 1965 vintage, and it is called Flowers never Bend with the Rainfall.

It's on Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme, which is my favorite of the five Simon & Garfunkel studio albums. I guess that's Paul singing lead on the song, although it's almost at the top of his vocal range. I didn't know of it being on a Paul Simon solo album.

Dreadful song, one of their worst. Almost persuaded an entire generation to get off the flower power kick.

I dunno, Peter. Maybe from an objective standpoint, the song is pseudointellectual trash - but it brings back memories of a number of lovely young women with sparkling eyes and soft, flowing hair....
When I sang songs like this, they were really impressed.
Ah, youth!
Didn't you ever fall in love in the 60's, Peter?

Joe Offer,

Paul Simon Song Book was an solo album Paul made in London for CBS, around 1965, containing Sounds of Silence, I am a Rock, April Come She Will,
Katy's Song and others that would appear on the next two S&G albums, plus a few that never saw the light of day again. It was recorded when Paul came to London after recordinng Wednesday morning 3AM.

It was the money from this recording that he used to pay for Jackson C. Frank recording.

For some reason, (?Paul's wish as with Tom & Jerry tracks), it has never been released on CD. I don't know if it was ever released in the USA on record.

Britain also got a companion song book released about the same time with all the songs from this album on it.

Both had a cover of Paul and a girl sitting facing each other on a wet cobbled street.

Both record and book turn up on ebay.uk regularly,

Cheers John

Oh I was certainly in love in the 60's. Put me off leather and lace, patchouli and those dresses with tiny mirrors in them for life.
yours,
Peter T.

I have both the Album and the Song Book, which shows my age. Jackson C Frank JJ, was a guy who was around the London clubs in the 60s, a good singer songwriter. Perhaps his best known song is Blues Run the Game, which was re-recorded recently by some pop bimbo.
