Several copies of Lloyd's "Come All Ye Bold Miners" are available from bookdealers on the www.abebooks.com list. Prices range from $US28 to $49, seemingly about the same for 1952 and 1978 printings.

And as an old mate I can do you a copy of the 1978 edition for £28.00 delivered to Hull. In excellent nick. My recommendation is to buy this later edition - has a lot more songs in.

See www.collectorsfolk.co.uk

That edition is well worth the money. I was lucky to pick one up secondhand about ten years ago for five pounds fifty. I don't think the bookseller knew much about songbooks or he'd have charged me three times the price.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the end of the Miners' Strike, Hartlepool Folk Festival is featuring a concert which celebrates the continuing impact of this seminal collection of songs. Come All Ye Bold Miners, on Saturday 17 October, features Dick Gaughan, the Wilsons, Durham Miners' Association Brass Band, Benny Graham, Bob Davenport, Taffy Thomas, Pete Wood, plus special guests Bert Draycott and Johnny Handle, whose songs were collected for the 1978 edition of the book.

The 1978 edition contained a wealth of songs from the North East, and we're delighted to be able to showcase these. We're also hoping to have a display of pit banners over the weekend in the beautiful church of St Hilda on the Headland, where the concert takes place.

1978? My copy is from 1952 and I probably bought it around 1958 or 9. Probably paid 3/6d for it.

Review that mentions both 1952 and 1978 editions of book.
