Subject: Sydney Carter songs and poems - new CD
From: Rob Smyth

I hope I'm not breaching any Mudcat Cafe conventions by creating a thread to 'promote' a new recording of Sydney Carter songs and poems. (I know I'd be interested myself if someone else posted this kind of information ... Sydney Carter's work is deserving of wider attention, and how else can this be achieved?)

Franciscus Henri toured Australia with Sydney Carter in 1972, and has just recorded 18 of the songs and 8 poems under the title "Nothing Fixed or Final". Franciscus has for thirty years been one of Australia's most gifted acoustic performers, and this work reflects his long and deep involvement with SC's work.

The CD is a beautiful gatefold digipack with liner notes discussing both Sydney and Franciscus. I'd better declare my interest here by admitting that I wrote the notes!

Further information can be found on the website at www.franciscushenri.com - the CD can be ordered direct from there. Correspondence and feedback will be welcome!
Link added. Rob, information about new recordings is quite welcome here - thanks! --JoeClone

Can't imagine anyone objecting to this; I know I'm gonna take a look.

This is good news. I pulled out my "Lovely In The Dances" recording about two weeks ago and have been listening to it on the back and forth trips to work. Glad to know another recording of Sydney's songs is available.
