Subject: RE: Coope Boyes & Simpson 'Samples' From: Surreysinger Date: 27 Sep 10 - 08:11 PM That's a comment which seems to have nothing whatsoever to do with the thread which had died four years ago until the recent posting requesting the chords for Jerusalem Revisited . (I don't think I've ever heard that request for an unaccompanied harmony song before.) |

Subject: RE: Coope Boyes & Simpson 'Samples' From: the fence Date: 20 Jun 06 - 12:44 AM Saw Coope Boyes & Simpson at Washingborough church near Lincoln recently. It was a shame the publicity did'nt get sorted earlier, there was about 12 or 15 people in the church. It felt like a private performance and what a fantastic time we all had!!! |
Subject: RE: Coope Boyes & Simpson 'Samples' From: Lizzie Cornish Date: 19 Jun 06 - 03:23 PM I certainly hope so Diane. They are the instructions someone gave me when I was getting very frutstated at not being able to do the links. As you can see, they worked a treat! Thanks Lizzie :0) |

Subject: RE: Coope Boyes & Simpson 'Samples' From: Lizzie Cornish Date: 18 Jun 06 - 03:57 PM Hi Georgina and Breezy, Thanks for the link, I've activated it now. Georgina, for future ref, you 'copy' the web address of the site you want, click the blue clicky link, which takes you to a new page with various boxes on. Go to the top box marked 'Link URL', paste the address/URL into there, then press 'Create link' which is immediately below. This takes you to yet another page where it will say "Cut and paste this into your post:" and that is exactly what you do. Copy the *entire* new address then bring it back here and just paste it wherever you need to. Also on that last page you are given a 'test this link' button, which should take you exactly where you want to link into. Hope this helps and hasn't made you give up the will to live! ;0) So...I did all that and got the link below. Thank you, but Oh...it is such a short clip and because it is deemed a commercial site you could never put it on the BBC. http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/store/artist/album/0,,1675024,00.html But look what I can do with George's music: http://www.myspace.com/georgepapavgeris And even if you can't put Myspace links on to other sites, all you have to tell people is to google 'George Papavgeris Myspace' and they'll instantly find George's page. Putting Myspace after any artist's name takes you there in seconds. Their music is so very beautiful and the songs often very powerful...but I can't let the world HEAR them! And only the other day over on Myspace someone e mailed me to say that she'd just downloaded all of Seth Lakeman's CDs from iTunes after clicking on my page. Honestly...and...she comes from Maine USA and her name is Shane (isn't that lovely...Shane from Maine!) Here is the message, which contains nothing personal whatsoever.: "Read Mail Bright Idea: [Check out cool MySpace Groups. View Groups.] From: Shane Date: 29 May 2006 10:42 Flag spam/abuse. [ ? ] Subject: Seth Lakeman Body: Thanks for being here. I sometimes just click on friends and listen to the music. I just bought all three Seth Lakeman CDs from iTunes. As soon as they finish DLing, I will take them outside with me. (It's a three day weekend in the US.) I also shared his myspace URL with two musician friends......" Still at least I have a short burst of 'Jerusalem Revisited to let people hear now, so many thanks for that. Lizzie :0) |
Subject: RE: Coope Boyes & Simpson 'Samples' From: GUEST,Georgina Boyes Date: 18 Jun 06 - 12:53 PM I should have pointed out, as Breezy said (Hello Breezy) the clip is free, but you have to buy the download of a whole track. Georgina |
Subject: RE: Coope Boyes & Simpson 'Samples' From: GUEST,Georgina Boyes Date: 18 Jun 06 - 12:24 PM Sorry I can't do blue clickies, but there's this - http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/store/artist/album/0,,1675024,00.html and a video clip of 'Do you want us to lose the war?' recorded at Holmfirth Festival a couple of years ago lurking somewhere on the web too. Also, on the elegant and newly re-designed No Masters website www.nomasters.co.uk you can download tracks from the long-deleted No Masters album which has songs from Lal Waterson, Mike Waterson, John Tams and other co-op members, including Coope Boyes & Simpson. |
Subject: RE: Coope Boyes & Simpson 'Samples' From: breezy Date: 18 Jun 06 - 12:18 PM maybe the idea is to buy their CDs ? Sorry to sound brash Lizzie but I didnt even have one offered to me as a folk club organiser when C B S came to guest, unlike most of the other guests, so I believe they are 'That big' and like Tony Truscott when I wanted to get hold of one of his songs to learn he said 'Buy the CD' All the best, let us know if you have any luck. George Papavgeris is most generous but its cost a fair amount of capital to produce his latest albums so its not unreasonable to be expacted to buy them. |
Subject: Coope Boyes & Simpson 'Samples' From: Lizzie Cornish Date: 18 Jun 06 - 04:51 AM Does anyone know if there are sample tracks of CB&S *anywhere* on the web? I'm desperate to get their music heard by more people but I can't find a thing! Aaaarrggggghhhhhh! The frustration!! Lizzie :0) |
