Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Noodges From: GUEST,My Guru's Almost Misled Scout-Elf Date: 22 Oct 06 - 10:55 AM Dear "Roux"(?), (It sounds better than "Al". Besides, The Boss has a Cajun record I like by Bruce Daigrepont called "Stir Up The Roux" which sounds like a better description of my given assignment than either Paul Simon's "You Can Call Me Al" or E.Y.Harburg's post-war soldier begging spare dimes, but I've been assigned to try out all possible "for-short" names until you specifically respond to one), After your failure to find facts by going off and listening to music, presumably by calling it a Fact Finding Mission so that you can write it off on your taxes*, I might, after this is all over, providing you've been good, give you the URL of a good Elf Service for future use. I've been trailing and watching you for some time, you know! The fact that you profess to have "no wants and needs" makes them easy to fulfill, but makes your bag difficult to fill full and it can't be "sewn up" until it's fully packed. That said, I've gathered up a few things, based on my surveillance, that you haven't even dreamed you need yet, but trust me, you DO! As for yout insatiable curiosity (I know what that is, because my Mom used to read me about Kipling's "Elfant's Child". I once had a trunk, however the airlines lost it), your very private, rather grouchy and difficult but wild and recluse Santa would rather speak Her or His thoughts through the voice of a male Scout-Elf, for which I get paid extra. So I can only give out the odd quote like: "I don't indulge in poetry crap to help you locate me on the map." ...to show you that Santa would rather not indulge in that sort of thing but has the capability to if specifically requested. Besides, Santa would not be condescending enough to assume you did not know where The North Polacks dwell. I mean, Lord Franklin DID make it back with Santa's message, didn't he? So try to believe in Santa, and The Boss will try to believe in Gurus (Guri?) until one specifically tells Santa "NO!". And I'll keep watching you, and---- GOOD GOD! I won't let on to the public that you do.... THAT! Your Scout-Elf Elfish Pressently *The Boss specifically wants to be notified if the "deduction" gets through UK taxes, for future reference. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: GUEST,Nancy Kings Secret Santa Date: 22 Oct 06 - 12:42 PM Hi Nancy if you are out there: Went to the home of the Bard yesterday looking for ideas, any hints would be gratefully appreciated so I can make sure you are pleased with what you get! If no hints are forthcoming I will have to surprise you :-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: SINSULL Date: 22 Oct 06 - 02:39 PM UHOH. My Santa sounds downright scary. Please, I beg you - not another fur trimmed lamp. Normal people walk into my house and see furry lamps, inflatable mooses, a knight in shining armor and then pretend not to notice. Caught the neighbor photographing the headless Jesus in my backyard. SIGH - someday I have to install something normal like a Barcolounger. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: My guru always said Date: 22 Oct 06 - 03:25 PM Dearest Elfish Pressently, I am so glad that you're being appropriately reimbursed for your efforts in communicating between my Wonderful Santa (who I believe in most sincerely) and myself (whichever 'for short' name we use), as I'm sure that you will be giving good service for your just rewards. But, alas and alack, I don't recall of hearing of Lord Franklin for quite some time, in fact I haven't sung the saga myself recently. So either my ears or my other senses are incorrectly attuned or I shall need huge hints in order to discover the whereabouts of my own Dear Secret Santa. Some short while ago I was questioned at length regarding my personal requirements (perhaps by long-distance request), but I'm afraid that once again, all I can say is that my desires are few and far between. I would, however, be glad of any obvious clues to assist me in my quest for enlightenment! Meanwhile, I hope that the weather is fair and that all is well in the land of mountains and snow. |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: Severn Date: 22 Oct 06 - 03:41 PM Dear Santa, I fear your elves have not arrived yet. I've put out two more shot glasses and straws, but the House Brownies are still singing two-part Everly Brothers, Blue Sky Boys, and even Fraser & Debolt harmonies for Chrissakes. Molly the Cat has been acting strangely of late, but her appetite has not diminished, so she might have been the one who drank the extra whiskey, but she doesn't seem to have harmed or eaten any elves. I'm still eagerly awaiting their imminent arrival. Bring 'em on! |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: CapriUni Date: 22 Oct 06 - 04:56 PM Yes, SS, I believe I do know where you are (unless its some hogboon impersonating your good self) ... and I'm feeling a bit chagrinned, because I fear I owe you some milk and cookies (and a wee dram of something a bit fermented, if you'd like it). I remember that IOU, I do. And I will fulfill it! |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: GUEST,Snuffy's coal-besmudged secret Santa Date: 22 Oct 06 - 06:52 PM I know Santa is supposed to reside at the North Pole, but would I be correct to think that you are usually further from it than I? Yes. You would be correct. I am usually further south from the North Pole than you are. Though, on occasion, I have been much, much closer than you as well. |

Any way , I collect Miniature drinks bottles , and am a not very serious collector of 'interesting' Beer Glasses , though storage is a bit of a problem with these . I play Guitar , Banjo (Tenor AND 5 string) mandolin and whistles , I drive a car and run two PA's .I tend to wear colour co ordinated clothing , And am amenable to any thing that arrives , though I only tend to buy CD's that have material on that I feel Ican adapt to my gigs , I listen to a wide variety of Folk , Jazz and Blues music . |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: GUEST,Nancy's enlightened secret Santa Date: 23 Oct 06 - 12:52 PM Hi Nancy I have used my common sense and have been digging around for clues and have found your hints from 2003/2004, don't know why I did not think of it before:-) Lots to think about and shopping to be done:-) |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: GUEST,JennieG's Secret Santa Date: 23 Oct 06 - 02:48 PM Jennie - I dont have any really bad information on your behaviour , so the Elves have been out looking round the skips for suitable items that wont need too much cleaning up ! |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: Severn Date: 23 Oct 06 - 04:05 PM My Shy And Secretive Santa, You seem to have developed a slight accent of some sort that was not noticable on your first post and yet is still not pronounced enough for me to try to ascertain your whereabouts. Furthermore, you are now sending those elves out on shopping trips, rather than seeking out my House Brownies as you had first indicated, probably from some fear of Molly The Cat, a fear which has probably been proven groundless last night. Yes, as I'd suspected, the cat HAD been at the extra shotglasses of whiskey laid out for your elves, but as it turned out, Molly ended up singing three part harmony with the Brownies, some Coope, Boyes & Simpson, some Seldom Scene and some Finest Kind type stuff and she actually got brave enough to take the lead on a version of "His Eye Is On The Sparrow" which she seems to especially relate to for some reason. It sounded so good I refilled the glasses and they didn't even try to scurry away as usual. So it turns out there was no cause for alarm after all! But you keep on coming back to the importance of the "Goodness" aspect of things. As for "reely", I've not been fishing this year, been out to a few movies from time to time, and like the odd reel mixed in with the jigs and hornpipes, if that helps. As for "realy", I've been very good indeed (and in word), plenty good enough to warrant showering with well deserved presents. Had I been perfect, however, I would have only signed up to merely give (with whatever logistical problems that would have caused our dear Liz in setting up the chain, but YES, O kind and generous though shy and secretive to the extreme Santa, I do find it quite blessed to recieve! So with the goodness issue solved, sit down and relax and tell me something semi-cryptic about your bashful self that can bear seeing the light of day, while shedding some more light on YOUR Hemisphere (but not enough to add to any Global Warming)..... In short... Bring it on! |

Of special interest was the spelling of the word "chantey". Could this mean that you are somewhere in the US area? My Johnny and I are hot on the trail of clues. Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: GUEST,Louisey at work Date: 24 Oct 06 - 10:30 AM Dearest Secret Santa, Big apologies for ignoring your previous requests for information I only make the journey 'below-the-line' every so often, but not often enough it seems!! I will certainly look into the rules, regulations and taxes involved in sending boyfriend(s) by air mail. I have had no problems before so it should be fine. You'd probably be best to find a patient one though... As for wrist adornments, the less expensive the better. I'm not one for gold & diamonds, although gold-colour goes down a treat. As do most other colours and materials - nothing that used to be alive though, it doesn't agree with my vegetarian side! I also enjoy: sweets, dresses, earrings, writing letters, new hobbies (also known as short-lived fads & phases), going for walks, gossiping, pink nail polish and learning new songs. I hope this sheds some light...!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx |

Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: ClaireBear Date: 24 Oct 06 - 10:39 AM Santa? Santa? Last night my 6-year-old son asked me if you were real or just "made up by grown-ups." I explained that although many people don't believe in you, you are a very real, ancient and vital spirit that serves an important function: to bring us much-needed joy at the darkest time of the year. And I told him that I still (and always will) believe, as should he. Although I think I was successful at getting around this little problem and helping my little one understand your true nature without your assistance, think how much more effective I could have been if I could've told him that I actually had heard from you. Please, Santa, say something. Even if it's just Ho, ho, ho! Your little friend (who is still being good), Claire |
Subject: RE: BS: Secret Santa Clues and Nudges From: GUEST,Greg Stephens' SS Date: 24 Oct 06 - 12:20 PM Ah HA! It took a lot of digging through your past postings, but I think I know what I'm going to send you. Your hints were not that helpful for style of music (thought going through my head while reading it ",,,this really sucks....") and you almost got the most absolutely wrong style of music. My local music, well, some is too gangsta hard, some is too soft rock, and some is juust...wrong. Or maybe I'll just send a box of chocolates. Hints, you want hints? Hmmm, all right. I live in the United States, and I'm in one of those non-OK jobs for folksingers. hohoho, SS |
