I am very afraid of Stephen Harper because he is really not very Canadian in his political views. He is a social Darwinist who denies he's a social dawinist, ans I find tht scary. He called Canada (at a US business forum) A third rate socialist state and worst of all, he has made such derogatory remarks abot Maritimes that I cannot imagine how Anyone east of Quebec could vote for him.

"...right-wing, neo-con, fundamentalist wing nuts," thats for sure.

Is it true that Harper (as well as Gordon Campbell, Liberal) have the same PR people as Bush? They all seem to have the same message. Talk about a 'culture of entitlement'!

Belinda is plain old not to be trusted and Peter McKay is a little boy.

I didn't like Layton at first but now I do. I actually think the NDP is looking good.

I am considering writing in one of the dachshunds. Finnegan. He does, after all, burn with a desire to rule. Why not give him a chance? He couldn't be worse than any of the human candidates I am being offered.

Plus...he's almost certainly not going to win...therefore, I will not have to bear the shame and blame after he gets elected and totally screws this society, and I have to admit that I was one of the fools who voted for him!

Thief as you call it or a Murderer(war for Oil)...

I'll take thief!

The CONservatives have done a lot worse than any Liberal government.

You want to talk about wasting millions? Who called this election?

The gun registry was fucked up but the intent was to stop 15 year olds from being gunned down shopping on boxing day. What do the CONservatives want to do about gun violence... Give tax breaks to their rich friends.
Isn't that what their bitching about, the patrinage scandals?

Cutting the GST will only benifit the rich cuz they pay more. In efect making the poor poorer. How republican of them.

You wont convince me to vote for George Bush I mean Steven Harper!
It's not time for that kind of change!

Ahhh yes Mr Mulrooney from Quebec wasn't he? and Jean Charest left his party to become a Quebec Liberal after Lucien Bouchard Left to control the PQ. I think the Conservative party has changed a lot since then mate, but I do agree with you it was just as bad as the Liberals in it's day. Time for change (and please dont vote NDP they havent even come up with an original policy to debate with yet)

Oh-oh. A debate? I shall attempt not to rise to de bait.

I will, however, just point to one FACT. After, ah, ah, Mulroooooney, ah, and, ah, clan, ah, were run out of town on a rail, the PC's could not even legally form a party. AND, Jean & our dearly beloved Elsie didn't count - Mother T couldn'a beat them. Without counting this pair, how many PC seats did they get? Don't go talkin "criminal" unless you wanna talk about 22 indictments in 8 years... and they weren't for funnelling money under the table to keep Quebec in confederation.

Aw shite... hook, line and sinker. I'm just a sucker for punishment.

(Yeah, it was a long way to go for a joke, but I pride myself on the setup... carry on carrying on.)

Raptor, if you want to elect criminals and thieves go ahead I'll take my chances with Harper. I remember a time when Preston Manning said Medicare needs help to run there are two ways of fixing it More taxes and a level of paralel private medical insurance. Everyone started screaming right wing Nazis and calling him an idiot, but essentially even the Liberals admit now that there has to be some similar revisions made to keep it going.

Chretien said "I wont touch your social programs" and promptly cut transfer payments to the provinces(Martin was his Finance Minister) and it caused havoc in Medicare. I pay for private insurance and have for 29 years the first thing the hospital asks me when I take both my chronically ill children there is, "is your insurance billing the same?" There is no free lunch it's a myth.

Instead of one billion dollars wasted on a useless gun registry why wasnt it spent on social programs and the justice system? The millions of your (the tax payers dollars) wasted and fraudulently given away to Quebec companies and Liberal supporters when it could have gone into our social programs? We need to fix our system or lose it. I suggest you drop the emotional rhetoric and CBC induced Liberal propaganda and take a good long look at what is really going on in Canada.

So youre votin for the Mariwanna party eh?

Harper wanted to go to war!!!

So he's gonna save us by having our kids killed for oil?

Or just by giving tax breaks to the rich?

The liberals are guilty of giving thier freinds jobs.

Better that than the Right wing war on the poor!

The conservatives are the ones who want 2 tier medicine, Thats whats gonna kill our medicare. Harper wants us to be just like the states. hows thier medicare?

Martin will lead a majority and the Bloc will lose ground. Martin will do the honourable thing and call a leadership convention after "The Gomery" so's he can get outta town while the gettin's good. Belinda? Nope. Johnny the Man? Nope. Curly Jean? Nope. Frank McKenna will don his Superman cape. Hey, anyone who could turn New Brunswick around like he did has gotta have a cape.

Don't forget.... advanced polls are from 12:00h to 20:00, Friday (the thrirteenth!!! oooOOOOooooo), Saturday and Monday. Whenever you vote, bring the registration card that you received in the mail because it will make voting easier and faster. (It is not a requirement... just speeds things up.)

You can also vote at your local Elections Canada office EVERY day from 12:00h to 16:00h, but, call them first to make sure you have all the info you need, like ID's, etc. (Yes, seven days a week.)

Gonna be a minority government, either way it goes. Then we'll have another election in 10 months, after yet another non-con vote... waste some more money on another election instead of actually doing something constructive.

At which time both the Liberals and the Conservatives (how come the Reform Party became the Conservative Party? Conservative Reform? seems like an oxymoron to me) will dump their present leaders in hopes of someone with more charisma or fashion sense who can win big for them.

Who will the new leaders be?

For the Conservatives?
Peter MacKay, of course. It's why he's hanging around in this federal party instead of going into provincial politics.

And for the Liberals?
Not John Manley, anyway. He's got all the charisma of a planter's wart.
Nope. It's gonna be that new hottie darling the Liberals recently acquired in their collection... Brenda "Windswept and Interesting" Stronach.

Then it'll be revealed that there's no real rift between her and so-called former sweetie Peter MacKay. It's all been a sordid plot to lull us into a stunned sense of apathy. Petey and BrenBren will work together to ensure our plodding system of government will be eviscerated and have themselves appointed King and Queen of Canada. "Let them eat Tim Hortons!"

You heard it here first. Don't say I didn't warn ya.

I would imagine the Liberals would claim victory anyway daylia.

Quebec will not separate until they lose control of the federal government (which will likely occur within the next five to ten years)

The future of Canada is probably headed towards a banana republic within twenty years. (that is if the Americans have trouble purchasing all our businesses in which case most of Canada will join with the States)

As for the legality of what Quebec wants, well thank Trudeau for repatriating the constitution and making it possible for Quebec to plead its case with the international court of the Hague.

The alternative is a nce big civil war, which is highly unlikely because most Canadians will be glad to see them go; and will be much more concerned about the price of beer and the effect on hockey.

Yours, Aye. Dave

Just about everyone I've discussed this with lately says we'll end up with another Liberal minority. Absolutely nothing will change, and millions upon millions of $$$ will have been wasted.

Seriously, for only a brief moment... In this forum, I have stated my affinity for some of the policies proffered by the Bloc. After listening to Gilles on the last debate, I would like to add that I hope the Bloc get their asses kicked. I have never heard him speak so candidly about sovereignty and I was shocked by many of the things he said.

End of rant.

Has it struck any of you entrepreneurs that IF the Marijuana Party gets in, there will be a fortune to be made in pipes, papers and MUNCHIES? Yes, folks step right up . . . .

CBC will have to start showing commercials every two minutes--McCain's stock will go through the roof. There will be a place in the fast-food chain for stores to sell peanut butter pizza with shrimp and black olives--hold the anchovies.

This could be BIG.

Vote Marijuana Party and watch Canada relax.

I wonder. I'll bet that they will bring in a re-registration fee which will be payable on a regular basis, say, every five years, which will become annual. Then, they'll confiscate the handguns that have been registered since the 1930's. Then... nah, that stuff would never happen, would it?

Most Canadians are under the false impression that the Liberals are the only party to support Medicare. When Prestom Manning was leader of the Reform party he proposed a few ways in which the system could be managed and improved and was immediately bombarded by Pravda (sorry the CBC) and accused of being a right wing Nazi out to destroy Canada. Our PM Jean Cretin (sorry Chretien) said "I wont touch your social programs" and had Paul martin the finance minister cut transfer payments to the provinces almost destroying some medicare programs.

Now we have seen several examples of waste by the Liberals.
A: Gun control.... complete and utter waste of a billion dollars that could have been used to support community programs medicare and the justice system.
B: several million dollars unnacounted for and no accounting for where they went (No not the patronage scandal)remember the lady who was reelected? If you or I had managed a job like that we would be doing twenty years hard labour. Here in canada we reelect them.
C: The patronage scandal millions of tax payers dollars frittered away to prime Quebec friends of the Liberals
D: The scrapped military helicopter replacement scandal. millions spent and lost, for some very expensive new helicopters that are mostly grounded for tail rotor problems. The original design choice but cheapened version and still no replacement for the aging Seakings.

Yes, Canadians will by the influence of the CBC and sheer apathy and stupidity re elect the Liberals to do more of the same. Great isnt it?
