Subject: RE: BS: Trainspotting Redux (interview) From: keberoxu Date: 22 Jan 17 - 05:28 PM The Edinburgh premiere just happened, and it's all over the news, including online news. |
Subject: RE: BS: Trainspotting Redux (interview) From: Steve Shaw Date: 22 Jan 17 - 06:13 PM Danny Boyle went to both my primary and secondary schools while I was there, though he was five or six years down from me. Can't remember whether I ever got round to bullying him or not. He's also well known at St Mary's social club in Radcliffe, right next to our parish church. I've never seen Trainspotting but it's on telly tonight and Mrs Steve is recording it. |
Subject: RE: BS: Trainspotting Redux (interview) From: keberoxu Date: 22 Jan 17 - 06:21 PM In the Trainspotting (1) film there is a scene following a funeral, in which the survivors gather in a pub, and someone sings "Two Little Boys." |
Subject: RE: BS: Trainspotting Redux (interview) From: Mrrzy Date: 23 Jan 17 - 11:27 AM That movie mothered be. I mean bothered me, but the spoonerism was cute. |
Subject: RE: BS: Trainspotting Redux (interview) From: Senoufou Date: 23 Jan 17 - 11:48 AM Many of the locations in the film were familiar to me. Maryhill Road, Giffnock Park, Alexandra Parade (I taught in Alexandra Parade School for five years) in Glasgow, and then the centre of Edinburgh, around Waverley Station and Princes' Street. Everyone remembers the descent into the toilet to retrieve the heroin, and the sinking under under the floor. I worked with quite a few heroin addicts in prison when I did Visiting, and they'd all seen the film and had loved it. I found it deeply disturbing, but well-directed and produced. I really like Robert Carlyle ("The Full Monty" for example) but hadn't heard of this latest premiere. |
Subject: RE: BS: Trainspotting Redux (interview) From: Senoufou Date: 23 Jan 17 - 11:57 AM This new sequel looks equally disturbing (I've just watched the trailer) but what's most shocking is Carlyle himself. He's aged! (Of course, he IS fifty-five.) |
Subject: RE: BS: Trainspotting Redux (interview) From: keberoxu Date: 23 Jan 17 - 03:55 PM If you think Robert Carlyle looks aged in real life, you ought to see him in full-on Rumpelstiltskin makeup on "Once Upon A Time" (ABC network). |
Subject: RE: BS: Trainspotting Redux (interview) From: leeneia Date: 24 Jan 17 - 10:37 AM An explanation: "Trainspotting is a 1996 British black comedy drama film directed by Danny Boyle,"... It follows the lives of heroin addicts in Edinburgh, according to Wikepedia. ============= Evidently Trainspotting 2 is a sequel. |
Subject: RE: BS: Trainspotting Redux (interview) From: keberoxu Date: 24 Jan 17 - 01:32 PM left out Irvine Welsh |
Subject: RE: BS: Trainspotting Redux (interview) From: keberoxu Date: 25 Jan 17 - 11:03 AM Reviews consistently report that, while the first "Trainspotting" was indeed largely shot in Glasgow, "T2" takes a long close look at Edinburgh instead. "[Watching the first 'Trainspotting'], I often hid my head in my hands, unable to watch scenes about dead babies and diving into gruesome lavatories. Now it's the sight of desolate men's faces that made me want to look away: stunned by the realisation that their lives are coming to an end." - Peter Bradshaw for the Guardian, 19 January 2017 a sequel that doesn't disappoint |
Subject: RE: BS: Trainspotting Redux (interview) From: keberoxu Date: 13 Jun 17 - 02:01 PM According to the New York Times, "T2 Trainspotting" is streaming on iTunes, Amazon, and Vudu. |
Subject: RE: BS: Trainspotting Redux (interview) From: keberoxu Date: 06 Nov 17 - 02:40 PM The Scottish BAFTA awards ceremony was this past weekend. T2, as people have abbreviated the name of the newer film, won for Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actor. The Best Actor award went to Ewen Bremner who played "Spud." He wasn't there, but screenwriter John Hodge read Bremner's statement on his behalf. |
