Yes that has been announced in current edition

The difficulty is the amount of copy needed and the time and people needed to collate the input ~ as I understand it? ~ such work takes time and Pete and Fiona and the team worked hard for a long time

So well done to LT staff and team and lets hope the future leads to better less time consuming and better life for all

Another difficulty is finances, with decreases in advertising revenue in Covid times and severe cost rises, e.g. "posting a copy of the magazine overseas [now] costs more than our subscription income on that item. UK postal prices have also risen substantially."

Well, this is truly distressing. I have enjoyed reading the magazine for
years but only got around to subscribing a year ago.
(I'm an overseas subscriber, so evidently not a source of income for them.)
I still love getting a physical magazine and with the loss of fRoots and now Living Tradition, I'm not sure what I can find to take their place.
Many, many thanks to Fiona, Pete, Heather and the production team for all the pleasure they have brought me.

Adding my thanks as a fairly long-term subscriber. I can understand all the reasons given why it is considered no longer viable to continue and would just join in thanking the whole LT team for their years of service, as well as those who have contributed interesting articles and reviews.

Thanks to Fiona and Jim, Peter and Heather and others who have worked on the magazine over the years.

I had a couple of items in the very first edition, and hope to have one in the final edition too.

Mudcat will continue to give me somewhere to show my ignorance, I hope.

Hi,
I am in Southern California and wanted to inquire if there is a way to get the last issue of Living Tradition for AUGUST 2022 from someone on Mudcat.

My book store (near me,) Barnes & Noble, has never carried that magazine. I tried calling to several other stores that have books and music magazines in my area but they also never have carried it and cannot request this magazine for me as it is not (and never has been in their inventory.)

If anyone can get the magazine for me that lives in USA I can send you payment for it. I have never been a subscriber as I could not afford it. Many years ago there was this one store that sometimes had issues but that store is long gone and closed about 15 years ago.

I thought that perhaps if someone is able to purchase it from a store near where they live in USA, I could buy from you directly. I would appreciate this greatly. If someone who is able to purchase it from a store in USA and could pick up an extra copy for me, I will send you payment and postage for it. I think it can be sent Media Mail within USA. To buy from overseas is too expensive for me on my budget (senior citizen on fixed income.)

Just received my latest and last Living Tradition magazine - I now have a full set having taken it from the very beginning.
Thanks to Pete & Heather and all the others who have helped produced the BEST magazine devoted to traditional music ever.
A great pity they find they can no longer continue.
I did notice a couple of errors in the Wilsons "On the Road" article.
I was not involved in the running of Whitby Folk Festival (as it was then known) in the 1970s although I did transport Chris & Steve about when working in the Middlesborough area.
I also recall their antics at the Spa.
I am not Malcom!

Agreed, Malcolm. I made a contribution to the first edition of The Living Tradition and the last one too.

I first met Pete and Heather at a recording for BBC Radio 2's Folk on Two at Culzean Castle with Jim Lloyd and Geoffrey Hewitt. And Pete proudly took me downstairs at the Spa to the see the collection of photographs where one taken by his father was on display.

Graham Binless ran the festival on behalf of EFDSS, It was run well , i was booked there many times, it was very enjoyable, i always got paid and had a good time.
I played there a few times for Malcolm, it was run well.
This year I am playing at Saltburn,
I have not played at Whitby for many years,it is however a very good place to have a festival and I have heard good reports

Malcolm, or Malcolm the Mukka as he was known, was better at running festivals than he was as a cricketer

Yes Sandman, I certainly agree with you about the letter from John Blaine- it's always good to have your prejudices confirmed & his assessment reflected almost exactly my own feelings.
   The Heywoods deserve enormous credit for covering so many aspects of the music over the years, and the LT archive will be a valuable resource for many years to come.
I'm personally grateful that the sometimes subversive views of an exiled Geordie were so readily accepted. Thanks again.....
