I recently saw Doc Watson in concert. He played a song that I have never heard him do before. I can't figure out the title or what recording it might be on. Some of the lyrics are "long lonely time, with no peace of mind" and "waiting for things to get better". He said that Chet Atkins played it, so it might be one of his songs. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Loved that song.

When and where did you hear Doc's song? I know the song but I can't remember the lyrics.

If I can remember, I'll ask Doc about it when I talk to him this week.

That song is "Waiting for the times to get better", recorded by Crystal Gail.

I saw him do this in person and he gave her full credit. Jeep

I heard this recorded by Crystal Gayle back in the mid seventies. Believe the title was Waitng for the Times to Get Better.

I just talked to Doc tonight but since the puzzle was solved there was no reason to talk to him about it. Doc said he's playing in Johnson City, TN tomorrow night.

We're set to play with him Jan. 25, 7:00 at Guiford College in Grensboro, NC.

Song written by Steve Wariner...how unfortunate he got lumped in with all those 80's 'pop-country' artists like the Mandrells(any of them), Kenny Rogers, Ronnie Milsap, Lee Greenwood(gag),etc. The only things good to come out of country mainstream in the 80's were Vern Gosdin and Gene Watson. Sylvia?...Puh-leese-uh! Ok, maybe George Strait was ok, but the rest. Ugh! Steve Wariner has much respect as a writer and a player in Nash. The Gatlin's?...zero.
