Helloo I am very happy that those Post Office Elves have done their job!

There is a selection of things in your parcel in the hope that you will find something you like in there, I did wrap them all individually in Christmas paper so you can open if you like.

There a a few clues in there as to where I am from, although not to who I am on Mudcat, I wear a bow and not a beard!

Dearest, lovely, super Secret Santa,

Desert Dancer and I have just today received your package and we are hunkered down right around it trying to sniff out what it might be. We think you were pretty clever in covering up the return address on the tape with the ball point pen to make it illegible by smudging it away, you clever little rascal you!

So, should we open it to place it under the tree or should we just open it and enjoy (oh, forget that, we must wait for Christmas). So, should we open the package or just place the package itself under the tree for the sweet package opening time Christmas day?

Well, you have done the deed! We are totally out of our minds wondering what it might be! We sure do appreciate you and hope you have a wonderful holiday season and we wouldn't mind a hint or so about who the heck you are. Do you have a beard or do you have a bow? We want to know!! Signed, those curious folks of the desert region....

Astro and Desert Dancer (the dancing duo of Old Tucson...)

Jack is still in Iceland - he's a changed puppy since the rehab - pictures of which can be seen here.

I don't think he'd be a party to any such antics now, and China has never been on his agenda.

It's not doing his rehab process any good at all for you to be casting nasturtiums at his alleged behaviour. He may have acted unwisely in the past, but that, like his tail, is all behind him. Please, give him a chance to redeem himself and not accuse him of these pranks.

Megan, my Dear, are you saying you got a letter from China?? What did it say? If that little rascal is in China, then - as you so aptly put it - weel jings crivens he is quite a distance from his intended path.. You see, Dearie, I sent him off to Australia to get you a pretty galah in a cage and a nice jar of Vegemite..!!

I do wonder if he got that idea into his head on his own or if someone led him astray. Must check if that scoundrel Jack is still safely ensconced in Iceland.

Newcastle NSW v. New Castle Indiana, huh?? I'm glad you've sorted out your address book now, Santa. Thanks for the lovely postcards.

The sparkly bits on Westwood Lake are a particularly impressive effect. How did you get them to jump off the sparkly teddy on the front of the Christmas card and onto the water?? :-)

I've been checking this thread regularly, hoping my Santee would reply to my comment from a while back, and secretly hoping for another hint from my Santa, but now I have the snail mail, hard copy instead. Thanks, heaps!

Dear Mrs. C.,

Wait just a minute here, dear lady!

Just what IS it that you do with scampering elves should you catch them? If I thought for a minute that any of my employees were to be captured in mid-scamper and be made into elf scampi or elf cobbler or tortured or displayed or harmed in any manner, the nature of your box's contents would drastically change instantly, by magic. If you do, indeed, have any idea of my identity, then you must also know the types of things I am capable when angered, and you may not realize what measures the brotherhood of elves might resort to on their own before I could stop them.

The globe-trotting elves themselves seemingly may not realize my full knowledge and powers, but knowing when they have been bad or good as well as all the Santees themselves, I will deal with them on my own time in my own way.

So you better watch out and be good, for goodness sake!

Dear Santa,

I am being ever so good! Just back from a vacation, so I have not been communicating with my usual frequency.

But I am still a true believer.

You've never said what kind of treats you like left for you of a Christmas Eve...milk and cookies, red wine with crackers and cheese or perhaps a hearty lasagne, plum pudding and punch, lefse and Akkavit, or rum grog and ship's biscuit? I live to serve...

Love,
Claire

What an offer, Bente. The part of the north pole this Santa lives in does not have a washer/drying hook up so there is no native dryer lint. I'm afraid Sinsull might end up finding the handmade lamp in amongst her tiny nuns and penguins someday, though, if you sent it via her. :-)

I seem to recall that it was also stated that said item was sold out when someone went back to the store a second time..

But then again, they might have had reinforcements in the meantime. I shall start making a nice dryer lint and glue lamp for you in return for your kindness, I'm sure Sins will be obliging in passing it on to you :o))

Best wishes,

Sehr geehrte(r) BOSS Santa Weinachtsmann/frau,

My little furry friend is usually quite happy about my various departures from the house, as he's been getting used to associating that with food. Feed dog, sneak out the door, and when I come home he's curled up in his bed (or in mine..!!), well contented and usually with his head on one or both of my indoor shoes. There's really *no* accounting for taste, is there?

I have nothing whatsoever against flamingos, live or fake. I've heard you can get some neat ones with additional functionality like, say, toilet paper holders and what have you. So please don't throttle any elves on my account, esteemed BOSS Santa.

There's a reindeer landing strip nearby, I hope you and/or your elves can find it. I hope your other yule-tide preparations are also running according to schedule.

Best wishes,

Bente

OK,now that the Obligitory Yanks-giving holiday animal noise reference is taken care of, we can return to thoughts of Christmas. We have searched the world over for things representing Santa's home area, as we were put on unlimited travel expense account. Santa won't be happy when the travel bills come in, but at least we've tried to keep the heap of presents under budget, which doesn't for a minute mean the gifts will not be of great interest and value to you!

We'll be leaving a package and scampering away like mad in the not-too-distant future!

For once, my act's together....
My elves and reindeer have toiled for you
Through Lapland's harshest weather
With a giftbox full of goodies
To warm your heart with cheer
All the way to over there
From all the way over here!
I have it on good authority
That My elves upon your shore
Have your present safely stashed
Not too far from your door!
And very, very soon I'm told
Delivered it will be
from your secret secret santa
Far away across the sea!
ENJOY!
(Phew! That was fun! I hope my secret santa had as much fun as I did!)

Something mysterious. I received a little package from Micca, from the Getaway, with a sheet of get well wishes and autographs from Mudcatters. I posted about it in that thread. Anyway, there was a clue of sorts to my Secret Santa, who was there! Now...THANK YOU, SANTA, and here's what I know:

My sheet of autographs had a certain name/signature then a little ways over "Your Secret Santa." At first I thought my SS had signed their real name, but now that I look at it, I think they may be two separate signatures, BUT I cannot read the first one completely. It looks like "Linda Lonane?" The only Linda I know of is Linda Goodman and it definitely doesn't look like "Goodman," so any of you have any clues without giving away my SS? Oh, it might not be "Linda" it could be "Linder?" Help!**bg** And, then again, as I said, they may be two completely different folks!

Mario,

Of course it's very hard to tell from this distance if the reinforcement you need is positive or negative, but my elves are slowly assembling a small collection of goodies for your yuletide.

But whether you will need a corset to rein in your delight must remain a moot point. (I believe the points on a moot are not very sharp, so it should be relatively painless).

You should be hearing a bit more from me shortly, as i am spending a few days with a very old friend.

From: Severn

Glad to hear from you again. I was getting worried. Irish Whiskey seems to be one of my Beverages Of Choice and one that I actually keep on hand. I shall start putting some out and hope the house brownies and the other wee folk and local critters don't party too hard in your honor. They got a little out of hand waiting for the Sussex Suspects of delivery elves that took their time in getting here and enabled things to turn into nightly drunken singarounds that seemed to increase in size every night, as chronically chronicled in last year's threads. Your elves will have a fine reception waiting for them even if the guests might've forgotten what they were celebrating by that time. But Irish Whiskey it shall be!

Mules, however, I've never dealt with in a Christmas context before.
Is this going to be more of a Frankie Laine-type Mule Train or closer to that of Spike Jones? How many of them have to be fed? I have an antique cardboard advertising sign hanging in my laundry area dated 1915 for 20 Mule Team Borax and showing One of said teams in Death valley somewhere. (It's next to another sign advertising the Savage Wringerless Washer-Dryer with the "exclusive Spin Rinse-Spin Dry", but I digress). Anyway, do your elves have any Holiday Mule Train songs that might need to be entered into the Digital Tradition and shared with both the assembled Mudcat Multitudes and those few with some assembly still required but batteries included?
I'm sure we'd all like to hear them.

And, of course, I learned from watching Our Gang/Little Rascals comedies such as "Free Wheeling" and "Honky Donky" what happens when mules and hard liquor meet. So keep them away from the Irish Whiskey so as they don't get to acting like poor Algebra, beacase Spanky and Scotty are no longer around with the alarm clock to save you! If they start singing, there's not much of a market here for "Mew-ell Sing We Clear". And if too much damage is inflicted, people will stop believing, and you can't sue somebody you don't believe in for damages. Which kind of leaves....well, you get the idea!

So I await their arrival with breath that, while somewhat baited, probably cannot match that of a mule team. And if this works out, I can compose a Holiday Opera called "A Mule & The Night Visitors" and retire on royalties and residuals.

So get cracking the whip, Dear Santa, (or if you're female, a few discreet flicks of your lashes would do) and I'll faithfully await your arrival.

Hellooo, Santa! So sorry to seem neglectful! I was super busy planning the Getaway, and then got sick after it (Better, now, thanks...). That's no excuse, I realize, but perhaps it will do as an explanation for my lack of participation here.

I love your cute rhymes -- unfortunately I'm not very good at that sort of thing, so this sorry prose will have to do.

As for hints, well -- um -- I DO like surprises, and my Mom always told me it wasn't polite to actually ASK for stuff... But I always enjoy hearing Mudcatters' music and learning about their part of the world. The hints I posted in previous years are still valid, for whatever they're worth.

And in case you're wondering, I HAVE been good -- even if a bit slow! And I do appreciate patience!

REPORT TO THE BIG MAN

That does it boss I am on strike!!!!

Drippynose almost gave the game away last night he wont stop peeking in windows and screamed when the raven pussy walked into the room. Thankfully I managed to magic up a roll of thunder so hopefully SECSY didn't notice.

Elf Droopydrawers reported that SECSY has been behaving as well as can be expected but I ask you boss does that say much?

PS
No more Hot chocolate for you till I am recalled to respectable duties and you didn't tell them the size of the cube.

I hope you're behaving this arvo, my Santee must be impeccably behaved, or the elves will inform me here at the North Pole, and you may find yourself giftless mate.
Now after Maldon I expect things will quieten down, but don't forget Santa's got friends in high, and low, places.

Wash your stocking BTW.

Hello Santa, is the weather good at the North Pole this year? I am keeping the chimney swept so you won't get stuck.

Cheers

I see.. Maybe I should send you some kind of beacon for the reindeer to navigate by? Some little item you could put in your garden. A pink flamingo with a little GPS system in it?

It's not so bad to be adrift, it can be an adventure, too, you know. Do you know this song?

I could have stayed in the harbour safe from the storm and the gale
Letting the sands run through my hands watching as others set sail
But I would have spent time counting the things I'd never known
Passions laid waste, dreams misplaced, the seeds of desire unsown

I'm a single handed sailor
Lost, adrift and alone
Hoping to ride the wind and the tide
Hoping to find my way home

The sea is ever changing like the beat of a restless heart
Out there I find some peace of mind to keep me from falling apart
When the voyage was ended I'd stand once again on the shore
I'd take time to smile and rest for a while before setting sail once more

I'm a single handed sailor
Lost, adrift and alone
Hoping to ride the wind and the tide
Hoping to find my way home

You know I must roam the ocean, the wanderlust still burns
Beneath empty skies I remember the ties that bind and I will always return

I'm a single handed sailor
Lost, adrift and alone
Hoping to ride the wind and the tide
Hoping to find my way home
(Colin Henderson)
