Subject: Meat Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: JedMarum Date: 24 Jan 02 - 10:15 AM Time is getting short, and I am getting excited. The fabulous Meat Brothers Fielding Music Adventures will begin in about two weeks and of course, I still haven't done my homwework (I never could color inside the lines). But I digress. Who are the Meat Brothers, you ask and are they Fielding an adventure - or are they adventuring with a Fielding? A good question, in deed! Mick? Rick? Can you help me sort this out? ... now, as to the homework, gentelmen we may just have to wing it! I can't seem to get out of my own way to complete a tape. Ya know, ya can't rush into these things! |

Subject: RE: Meat Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: MMario Date: 24 Jan 02 - 10:30 AM Okay - what's the scoop? Jed, WHAT are you about to do with half of the lay-abouts-at-large? Can you say? Is it printable? Will there be film at Eleven? Will this increase global warming? |
Subject: RE: Meat Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: JedMarum Date: 24 Jan 02 - 10:34 AM ooops! Look like I got the name wrong. It shouldda been Beef Brothers. There is a comment in the very first post to this thread. |
Subject: RE: Meat Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Rick Fielding Date: 24 Jan 02 - 10:44 AM Apparently Jed hasn't GOT a clue! However I think what he means is that He's coming to stay with us in Toronto for a few days, starting Feb. 11. During this time I'm gonna try and introduce him to a few potential new Canadian fans, get him into Mudcatter Paul Mills studio to record a song or two, and get him live on the radio (Acoustic Workshop) in the flesh (and he's got plenty of it). Now rumour has it that Michigan Mick is gonna flack for our boy around his turf as well, the week before. If Mick can free himself from dinner engagements and policy making power meetings with Al Gore, and The Pope, he may just accompany Jed to Toronto. We figure having it appear that Jed needs a bodyguard (just like Mariah Carey) can only be good for his career! Heather is already reeling at the possiblity of having THREE big goofballs inhabiting our little house...'cause generally ONE has been enough...but we'll squeeze 'em in. We'll make sure that Jed (or Ari Fleisher) keeps ya posted . Cheers Rick |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: JedMarum Date: 24 Jan 02 - 10:50 AM Wow - well the JoeClone elves have been to work fixing my damnabale errors! Thanks, elves. What do Al Gore, Mariah Carey, the Pope and Ari Fleisher have to do with the fabulous Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures?? Well, Mudcatters will just have to watch this thread to find out! ... poor Heather. The things her man gets her into! |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: JedMarum Date: 24 Jan 02 - 10:59 AM ... do you really think Mariah Carey would be my body guard? |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: MMario Date: 24 Jan 02 - 11:05 AM no - he's getting you a bodyguard just likeMariah - sortofa "clone" - so you will have to inspect her very closely to make sure there are no defects. |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Jan 02 - 12:17 PM Why do I suspect there is not enough food in Toronto to cover this onslaught? I'm sure there will be plenty of music, but you can't eat an eighth note. I predict that within two days of arrival there will be a run on the supermarkets and by day three, Mick and Jed will be hungry enough to eat the ass out of a leprechaun. Heather, please stock up now as this scenario can only become more grim. Spaw |

Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: wysiwyg Date: 24 Jan 02 - 12:35 PM Mariah is a leprechaun? ~S~ |

Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Micca Date: 24 Jan 02 - 01:18 PM Rick, with those two as a backing group are you going for the "Wall of Sound" concept??!!! Thanks for reminding me of the "picture I wish I had..." of you on stage at the Getaway, with the "Incredible Beef Brothers" standing behind you!!!!! and what exaggerated the effect was your compact guitar... It (and they)made you (NOI) look even SMALLER!!!! The music, however was superb... and if a recording of "Feilding and the Beef bros" is in the offing, I am interested, BTW If They eat you out of house and home and you need food parcels let us know.. |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Justa Picker Date: 24 Jan 02 - 01:22 PM I look forward to finally meeting, jamming, chatting, etc. in person, with the Beef Brothers! |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Jan 02 - 02:03 PM Say Micca, that's a fine idea.......I could send some Vegemite or Marmite since I am now well stocked with both. Maybe a couple of heads of cabbage too and a corned beef brisket.......... A few pounds of Scrapple and a few dozen eggs..........Oh, and how about a big pot of Navy Bean soup and Rick can make some cornbread.............I can guarantee they'll put on one helluva' performance..................... Spaw |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: SINSULL Date: 24 Jan 02 - 02:18 PM Oh WOW! A reunion Tour of the Beef Brothers! Heather - prepare to feel very tiny. My pictures of that night at the Getaway didn't turn out. A big (PUN!) disappointment. But I too can swear that Rick Fielding looked like Tiny Tim dwarfed by Jed and Mick. We want pictures and souvenir T-shirts. Have fun, guys. |

Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Steve Latimer Date: 24 Jan 02 - 02:51 PM Rick, Let me know if you guys are playing somewhere. Do you still wander over to the Tranzac after the radio show? Steve |

Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Jeri Date: 24 Jan 02 - 06:05 PM Listen, I already applied for the job of bodyguard. I have longer hair than Mariah, bigger boobs, and I can sing in about three and a half octaves. (The singing bit is actually a martial art known as "sung fu." Would-be assaulters run off in fear, with fingers jammed into their bleeding ears.) I was (sniff) rejected. Seriously, just get Big Mick a suit, a diamond earring and some CIA shades, and everything will be fine. Seriously...no, wait - I mean it this time! Have fun guys! Hope we all get a Mudcat "play-by-play." |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: catspaw49 Date: 24 Jan 02 - 06:09 PM A play by play? Hell Jeri, we'll be lucky if they don't eat Rick's computer (after they finish the leprechaun of course). Spaw |

Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Big Mick Date: 25 Jan 02 - 12:42 AM This just in....................my vacation time was approved, and I am accompanying my fellow Beef Brother to the land of Tor's, On's, and Toes. Rick, have them put on a few extra cops for the weekend. Got any Walmart's I can organize in my spare time? I can't wait for the fecking border crossing when my "little" brother Jed and I cross over the Blue Water Bridge. I can see it all now. 15 or so instruments, the whistles, .............. and the look on the guards face when they try to figure out what the hell my uillean pipes are. I think I had better leave those home or we may not make it in. Can you imagine when you and I get out of the car, Jed? 500 pounds between us, and enough hair to weave a king size comforter................LOL. Now.............uhhhh..........Heather............about the menu..............I am a growing boy, you know................I want to be Rick when I grow up................have you got any cookies..........and milk...........and pot roast...........and Navy Bean soup.........and some spuds...........and some green beans fried with bacon..............and some corn bread............and how about a little corned beef with some dacent mustard.............That will do for when we get there...........Now.......about dinner.......... Mick |

Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Joe Offer Date: 25 Jan 02 - 03:53 AM Gee, my son's band had trouble getting into Canada - the authorities wanted them to have work permits. You think the Beef Brothers will make it past the border guards? Wish I could be there to see the BB&Fielding reprise. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: JedMarum Date: 25 Jan 02 - 09:40 AM Jeri, I think we need you as our body guard. And we'd much rather have you then Mariah anyway! ... and Spaw, I love Navy bean soup, but the "ass out of a leprechaun" I could leave out! MMario - I think we need you too, to sort of balance us out and bolster the 'size' thing. Joe brings up a good point - we are not going into Canada to work, just to play music with our friend Rick, so no work permits are required - but what are required at the border these days for ID. I've let my passport expire. I presume my photo driver's license, a birth certificate, voter reg card, will be OK?? I was planning to bring a few instruments. I wanted to bring my Santa Cruz along - just to show it off, really - plus I need my Larrivee and banjo ... harmonicas ... Mick will have an ax or two. I guess we'll be loaded for bear when we cross. And two handsome, large sized fellows like us would hardly be noticed, never mind spotted as unusual at the border - even long haired as we may be ... would we?? |

Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Bill D Date: 25 Jan 02 - 10:04 AM for those who missed earlier postings...here are the Beef Brothers WITH Rick Fielding at the Getaway last October. (Is this the photo you wanted, Micca?) and for a REAL sight, < a href=http://www.photoloft.com/view/Image.asp?u=165864&s=plft&frames=&nonav=&is=&a=1167963&i=8313298&ViewerSize=2&image6.x=60&image6.y=5>here they are without Fielding, but WITH MMario and Dick Swain (whom some of you have seen on Max's lamented Radio/TV program), as they came in to intimidate the Sea Shanties workshop... "Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair" |

Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: MMario Date: 25 Jan 02 - 10:28 AM Jed - you don't know how tempting - after all - it's only 3 hours further to Toronto then I drive to work each day. Two hours if you consider I have to drive BOTH ways when I go to work. |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Steve Latimer Date: 25 Jan 02 - 11:14 AM You won't need a Passport. Photo ID will suffice. My relatives are in the U.S. and they have come up here with all kinds of musical instruments, heck they even had an Amp, P.A., and electic guitars and Basses. (I host a gathering, Latimerpalooza that this gear was for). They have been asked about it and have just said that they were playing a family party and there has never been a problem. My sister has had two guitars in airplane and when asked has said she is just playing with her cousins and it hasn't been an issue. Me? I have even less to worry about. I know that if they ever pursue the fact that I have my Five String in the car, all I have to do is take it out and play it, they'll know that I'm not going into the U.S. to earn money from my playing. |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Micca Date: 25 Jan 02 - 11:33 AM Bill, Thanks mate that is a smasher but the one I "wished for" was a few minutes earlier when the walked on , side by side, with Rick in front of them looking about a foot + shorter than them.... The one of the "Enforcers" is priceless too!!!! Thanks Bill |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Jeri Date: 25 Jan 02 - 04:49 PM They didn't ask me for any identification at the border. They asked a bunch of questions. (Jed, try to remember that your citizenship isn't "Texas." "US" would be the most appropriate answer.) Jed, you really might need a bodyguard. If you guys were to get stuck in traffic long enough, you might turn into the Donner party. Maybe you wanna rethink the name "Beef Brothers" to something less food-related? |

Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: GUEST,Rufus T. Flywheel Date: 25 Jan 02 - 06:54 PM Flywheel, Shyster, and Flywheel Attorneys-At-Law 1-800-LAW SUIT Mssrs. Fielding, Lane, and Marum,
As the legal representatives of the NALALGFG, I am posting this here as well as sending it by certified mail in the hopes that you will take this as a serious warning and not cause other steps to be taken. Specifically, Mr. Lane, having a deep background in Unions, will respect our client's wishes in this matter. The NALALGFG boasts a membership of over 6827 members in North America and pursuant to statements made here, we have put you on our "Watch" list. A restraining order has not been issued at this time, but we have Should any of you act upon our membership in any way regardless of circumstance you will be held liable and both criminal and civil litigation will follow. I hope this is clear to you and you will see the seriousness with which we take threats made against the NALALGFG membership. It is my most fervent hope that this letter will be enough and we can consider the matter closed. Regards,
Rufus T. Flywheel Legal Representative---NALALGFG |

Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: catspaw49 Date: 26 Jan 02 - 05:31 PM Well guys, I checked up on this for you and I gotta' tell ya' that the Guild is cretainly serious. I called Flywheel and he said that they mean business, so try and quelch that hunger huh? Spaw |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Jeri Date: 26 Jan 02 - 06:34 PM Spaw, I'm not sure what you're saying about Mr. Flywheel's concerns, but I'm afraid of what you're implying about Big Mick. The Leprechaun's green legs aren't ham - he would not eat a little man! I think he likely would, instead, go for convenience and eat Jed. Maybe later, when from hunger he feels sick, he'd get to Toronto and eat Rick. |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: JenEllen Date: 26 Jan 02 - 09:17 PM From the lost travel diaries of Jed Marum: Dear Diary, Note to myself in future: not to grin when they ask me if my trip is for 'business or pleasure'. We have been in the long line for almost 15 minutes now, and Mick is starting to look at me like I'm a pork chop... |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: GUEST,Rufus T. Flywheel Date: 26 Jan 02 - 09:39 PM We were first alerted to the possible problems here through reading the post of one catspaw49 in which he states: "Mick and Jed will be hungry enough to eat the ass out of a leprechaun." Should either Mr. Lane or Mr. Marum wish to consider the other as a rack of pork chops or a sirloin roast, we have no objection, but should they in any way attempt to eat the ass out of any NALALGFG members they will be charged in criminal court and subject to civil liabilty suits.
Regards, |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Big Mick Date: 27 Jan 02 - 04:26 PM HEY FLYWHEEL!!! Tell your wee friends and clientele that neither they nor Marum, nor Fielding have anything to worry about. While there are several Mudcatters whose nether regions I would be happy to give serious scrutiny to, it isn't either of these fella's......................LOL. But......Jed.... We are going to have to make sure that we pack a few snacks.........just til we get to Heather's Home cookin' and Music Emporium. But...........we are taking a trip to Elderly the day before, so the likelyhood of either of us having any money left is remote. Mick |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: DougR Date: 27 Jan 02 - 08:51 PM Uh,... Jed. I'd steer clear of discussing politics if I were you. That is unless you sense an opportunity to do some converting. :>) DougR |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: JedMarum Date: 27 Jan 02 - 11:02 PM ... been in Louisiana the last couple of days. No leprechauns there, but plenty of good food! Now I had little green legs for dinner on my last trip to Canada, but they were frogs legs, and that was in Montreal - I don't suppose the Torontoans (now there's a word) are quite so crass as to serve frog legs!
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Rick Fielding Date: 28 Jan 02 - 12:21 PM Jed, there are a lot of restaurants in Toronto that serve Frogs legs. Generally you'll be paying about about 130.00 (American) per complete meal...and those are NOT considered the really expensive places. We'll probably suggest the Chinese Buffet...Crab legs, Oysters, and lotsa other stuff for about 8 bucks a head. Damn! I wish freelance folkies had expense accounts! Rick P.S. We had home-made haggis, and Beef and Mushroom pie last night, to celebrate Robby Burns Night for Heather...and guess what? The Haggis was DELICIOUS! Perhaps in honour of Mick we may have potatoes. Nothin' else....just potatoes! Rick |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: catspaw49 Date: 28 Jan 02 - 12:33 PM Jed, I had another conversation with Flywheel and he suggests that you stay away from anything labeled "Frog Legs." Rick quotes a ridiculous price from which you can tell that these are, in fact, NOT frog legs. If you want frog legs, stop by here as they are in abundant supply locally as I know they are in Texas. I'm tellin' you these Leprchauns are serious!!! Any GREEN legs you had were NOT frog and according to Flywheel, were probably previously attached to the ass of a Leprechaun. Go for the Lo Mein! Spaw |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Big Mick Date: 28 Jan 02 - 12:33 PM HEY........HEY..........C'MON, GUYS!!!!.......You did save some of that haggis for me, didncha????? Great as leftovers, but then there are those that say that the ingredients for haggis were leftovers to begin with.....(((LOL))). Damn,......and beef and mushrooms to boot. You guys got your timetables screwed up, Rick. This stuff is supposed to be served when Jed and I get there. Oh well..........I love Chinese buffet, too. Especially the seafood. Jed, I will limit my instrumentation to a bouzouki, a 12 string, and maybe a bodhran. Wait, skip the bodhran.........it will never make it past the border check. Mick |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: catspaw49 Date: 28 Jan 02 - 12:37 PM Mick, I'm sure Rick can find something moldy and nasty in the back of his fridge that's been there for a year or two that would pass for leftover haggis. Rick, if not, let me know and I'll send you something out of my fridge. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: JedMarum Date: 28 Jan 02 - 10:41 PM LOL. I'm already enjoying this trip and it hasn't even started yet! Rick - I can get pretty good and reasonably priced frog legs in Texas, so if I get the urge I'll just drive to down to Houston (Dallasites find them to be a bit too beneath them). 'course with Spaw's warnings, I probably need to steer clear of them anyway ... and I'm with you Mick; haggis would be just fine w'me! Now as for Elderley, I'm thinkin' if I offer my Santa Cruz and my Vega, maybe they'd see fit to sending us off to Toronto with one of those Bob Brozman Baritones! |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: alison Date: 28 Jan 02 - 10:58 PM oh I see...... you don't call! you don't write! and would you care to explain ...." there are several Mudcatters whose nether regions I would be happy to give serious scrutiny"....?????????? and now I find you're off gallivanting to Canada..... good luck Heather....... they'll eat you out of house and home....... *grin* slainte alison |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: catspaw49 Date: 28 Jan 02 - 11:16 PM Tell ya' what Jed, that might work, but let me offer you a guaranteed deal huh? Still got the Larrivee? You send me the Larrivee and I'll have one of the wonderful and collectible limited edition Martins waiting on you in Lansing. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: DonMeixner Date: 28 Jan 02 - 11:25 PM Now Alison I think you may be unfair. I have had dinner with Mick and I can tell he didn't eat the stuffed grape leaves. I also must add that mixing Guiness with Beef Chuarma, Tabooli, flat bread and humous was gastronomically a daring move but Mick was up to the challenge. Still, he stopped at the grape leaves. Don |

Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: DougR Date: 28 Jan 02 - 11:49 PM Wow, Jed, I don't see how you can possibly turn down Spaw's offer. Those are pretty handsome dudes. DougR |

And then.........uh there is Ms. Boyd, she of Sydney by way of Belfast. and .....ummmmm...I guess I meant to say ....... uhhh ....I meant ... Shit!!! Time for grovelling with my FAIR ONE. Can we talk about this??????? Mick |
Subject: RE: Beef Brothers Fielding Music Adventures From: Big Mick Date: 29 Jan 02 - 12:00 AM Don.........you can mix the vile black stuff with anything.. except grape leaves. By the way, I got my bouzouki back and I will get those measurements to you. And give me a little more help here with THE FAIR ONE, willya? Last I saw her, she was headed to the pantry for a griddle. Shit, I may not survive this one. Last thing she hollered was something about "I kill ye and murder ye alive, you feckin' layabout". LOL. Mick |
