Nice to see Beverly/Buffy taking about how she viewed and wrote songs back then. There are newspapers online, going back Beverly/Buffy starts off playing folk songs and appearing in university stage shows as an actress, before she adopted her fake Indian persona.

This is a review of Buffy appearing in a University operetta stage show Thunder in the Hills, she gets rave reviews.

"As the hoydenish Margit, Buffy Saint-Marie could belt out a song in true "Mermanish" style. She had vitality and assurance. "The Boys I've Met", and "When I Met The Boy I Love", were excellent songs for her talent. Morning Union October 21st 1960.

Buffy Saint-Marie a well known folk and ballad singer on the campus turned in a realistic performance. Her voice, throaty and well projected, was accompanied by an excellent acting performance. as Margit, the character around which the tragedy is built. Transcript Telegram October 21st 1960.
