Subject: RE: Origins: Big Red Songbook From: Art Thieme Date: 10 Aug 08 - 06:37 PM In the notes section of this quite fascinating book Archie Green and all reflect on the idea of FIELD RECORDINGS. They say the tapes I made of Paul Durst in 1961 are just about the only ones ever made of a Wobbly songster -- except Harry Haywire Mac McClintock's recording an interview and singing his songs for Sam Eskin. I'd been telling folks about these old tapes I made of Paul for close to 50 years now---and it feels real good for some notice to be made of Paul, his songs---but mainly his life. Archie Green, if you're out there, thanks so much!! Art Thieme |

Subject: Origins: Big Red Songbook From: Riginslinger Date: 10 Aug 08 - 10:56 AM So I was spamed this morning by Amazon.com, and they are plugging "The Big Red Songbook," by Utah Phillips. I couldn't find out much about it on the Amazon site. I wondered if this was new, and was in the works before his death, or... Does anyone know much about it? |
