Subject: RE: Anybody know a good harmonica site? From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 02 Jul 00 - 12:04 PM I asked a local fellow who plays harmonica and he says he has some links on his page as well as links on the Harbour Folk Society of Halifax's web-site. http://www.chebucto.ns.ca/Culture/Harbour-Folk/ Here's his message: Date: Sun, 2 Jul 2000 10:38:15 -0300 (ADT) Hi, George. You might want to go to my "Harmonikat" site, linked on HFS Links Page... there are a number of harmonica related links there. Jack Earl's site is great and offers free basic lessons, I have not visited the other in quite some time. The SPAH site (Society for Preservation & Advancement of the Harmonica) is also a great resource site. That is linked on mine as well. Maybe you should just cut and paste this to your thread. Take care. Dave. =========================================================== |
Subject: RE: Anybody know a good harmonica site? From: John in Brisbane Date: 02 Jul 00 - 07:59 PM For anyone interested in learning harmonica there used to be a shareware program called HARPING. It has its own selection of tuition tunes with some good satisfying songs like Love Me Do, or you can import any MIDI file of your choice. It gives a display of which holes to suck or blow and where you could 'bend' notes. Best of all it allows you to substiute a harp in another key to try the whole gamut of cross-harp styles.
From memory it focussed on the standard diatonic harp, not chromatic harmonica.
I don't know whether it's still available at shareware sites - if not let me know and I'll mail you the software. Regards, John |
