Subject: RE: CATSPAW - GOOD NEWS!!! From: Sandy Paton Date: 20 Jun 01 - 10:39 PM Can an old fart like me join in this joyous Mudcat parade? I want Spaw to know that I clicked in here as soon as I got home from traipsing all over hellandgone today with Caroline. Just had to get the news as soon as I could! And good news it is, too! Now just get him to behave himself, Karen, and we'll be enjoying his wit and wisdom (read: piss and vinegar) again on these pages before we even finish the big celebration. A big hug, Spaw, and a great wheezing sigh of relief from Connecticut's boonies. Sandy |

As I was surfin' on the web one bright sunny day
The first time that I surfed the 'Cat, 'twas lookin' for a song
Now, no-one warned me of a man whose manners are quite rough
As time went on I heard about this wild and crazy man
And so the doctor set a date to try and fix his heart

Since Catspaw is under the influence of some really good drugs, I'll just give him a kiss on his very high forehead. But Karen? You come here, girrl, and let us all give you a big, surrounding-with-strength-and-perseverence Mudcat hugaroonie. Subject: RE: CATSPAW - GOOD NEWS!!! From: katlaughing Date: 20 Jun 01 - 09:00 PM Merry Solstice Eve, everyone. Thanks for the reminder, Noreen! Here is the latest from Connie and it sounds good. Thanks!! Latest update from K Pat's color is good now, hands warm, swelling is going down, and is able to open and close both eyes. Is gesturing for K to talk to him. So now begins the 20 questions of which topic he wants to hear about. He doesn't remember W being there. He wanted to know how the surgery went, says his side hurts where they went in. K inquired about the vent and they said his arterial blood gases "are not stellar" so they would be weaning him slowly off the vent. now hope tp have him off by morning. K says he is alert when he is awake and then drops off--no fading they want him more awake than this before they remove the vent K will stay all night with him. K says when you are real close to him and it is quiet she thinks she can hear click-click. W says he can. That ought to be good material there for someone to run with! :) Unless I hear something earthshattering i will update you all when K calls in the morning. Later~ Connie |

Subject: RE: CATSPAW - GOOD NEWS!!! From: Jeri Date: 20 Jun 01 - 08:48 PM Spaw, you sweet ol' fart, I've been trying to think of something witty or at least intelligent to say, and I haven't had any luck. I'm just glad the surgery went well. I'm glad that you're going to eventually feel better than you have in a long time. I'm glad you're gonna be more mobile and I may have a chance to meet you. There are a few people who define the mood of a place, and you're one of those people here at Mudcat. I suspect you strongly affect people wherever you are. To Karen, Clarence, Tris, Mikey, Wayne and Connie - if we can be called Pat's extended family, we're yours as well. Long-distance hugs for everyone. |

Subject: RE: CATSPAW - GOOD NEWS!!! From: katlaughing Date: 20 Jun 01 - 08:20 PM And, another update...I feel like Connie and I have been stringers at an important, breaking news event for the Neil Young Center newsbeat or something!**BG** Oh before I forget, she is editing out all references, in the previous thread's messages, to fundraising at this point, so we can keep the surprise element for when he is feeling better. She asked and I told her I thought that was best. No use in hitting him over the head with so much love and ambarrassment all at once. He will be pleased but embarrassed! Anyway, here's the latest from Connie: latest word from Wayne is that the medical staff is looking towards 8-10 p Ohio time Daylight Savings for taking Pat off the vent and pulling out the Endo-trachial tube. K and W have been into see P. He appears to recognize them and is responsive ( i didn't catch if that was reflexive or to command). K is napping in the waiting room having basically gotten little to no sleep last night. Pat was uncomfortable and up and down til about 3a, I think K said. Finally K and Nurse convinced him a sleeping pill was in his best interest. Personally, i think he would have been alot better off if he could have been on mudcat awhile...but...soon. I will take/or send with K, everyone's best wishes, prayers, etc., that I have printed off. You all are a real blessing...I'm so glad that Pat has so many friends who get to enjoy his unique style; and for those of you who have had the blessing of really getting to know him and share with him - we can probably all agree that he's quite multi-faceted, and a character to boot! It's not always easy to get next to Pat, but you are so right about his big, caring heart. Pat truly respects people who have developed talent/skill, but more than anything else it seems that who he really honors and deeply respects most are those who are passionate and compassionate. An awful lot of you are just that. Thanks so much to all of you for your love and concern; kind and hilarious expressions to Pat and the 'spaw family. More as it develops~ Connie I agree, Connie, it's too bad he couldn't have had the Mudcat last night. Which gives me an idea. We could market the Mudcat for the healing tool it is, pipe it in to pre-surgery patients, get them into PalTalk and play for them, have chats for them, threads for them, just do our Mudcat do and slide them right on into the next day with nary a jitter, in positive spirits and ready to heal up! YeeHaw! laughinglykat

Subject: RE: CATSPAW - GOOD NEWS!!! From: Helen Date: 20 Jun 01 - 08:14 PM Hi Clarence, Nice to see you here again. You're right - it was definitely the Vegemite (not the Marmite) which did the trick.

Subject: RE: CATSPAW - GOOD NEWS!!! From: katlaughing Date: 20 Jun 01 - 04:25 PM Clarence, good to see you! I've been sending on all of the messages to COnnie, so she can print them out for him. She's read the first batch and had this to say, as well as an update from Wayne: i really enjoyed laughing..many, many "runners up" but i think biggest laugh has gotta go to the STAT order for another litre (or is it liter...I've read so much of other-than-the-USA version of English spelling...) of p***and vinegar. Spaw's surliness is expodential in the hospital. Although, the devil's concern about him farting near the fire and brimstone may be accurate, also. ( and was a very close 1st runner up) Bill (Sables) and the Boys can attest to a little recollection our boys had about the day the lights went out in the kitchen (simultaneous to a trademark gaseous expulsion)...maybe Sam can come up with a reel about that? Yeah - a call from Wayne. K and W were just allowed into see Pat. W reports that Pat opened his eyes and looked at/knows them though W doubts that Pat will remember it. The current plan of action is to have P off the vent in about 6 hours and if all goes well there, to then remove the endo-trachial tube. He will be in SICU til the morning and then evaluated for a step down. THANKS, MAXWIZARD for the Marley-man, beautiful and just hits the spot. Hope you've had good news, too, darlin'. kat

I told her that the very first thing she was to tell Pat when he awakened was that Maw had been to the Mudcatters site and that within 20 minutes over 38 of you had sent him messages. I know this will mean the world to him. Karen promised to give him the word. In fact, he should have it by now. Thanks to you guys. He should be REALLY full of the old vip and vinegar when he gets back. They say he will feel a whole lot better than he has been feeling. I asked Karen about the replacement valve and we figure that he won't go lub, dub dub anymore but instead, will go lub dub click. A new dimension to his repetoire of sounds!!maw, known to spaw as clarence. |
